Description
Hi, I’m Keshav Athreya—friends call me Kostarolla or Ketchup (nicknames welcome if they’re respectful). I grew up between India, The UK, and the US, and later studied and worked across the U.S. in engineering and field operations. That diverse background taught me how to connect with people from different cultures and adapt quickly to new environments.
Professionally, I’ve worked in renewable fuels and oilfield operations, but right now I’m taking time to explore new experiences, live closer to nature, and contribute directly to communities. What motivates me most is building meaningful relationships, learning practical skills, and helping create a more sustainable, balanced way of living.
In my free time, I love hiking, swimming, playing guitar, and traveling. I’m happiest when I’m outdoors or surrounded by people who value curiosity, effort, and good conversation. I’ve volunteered in flood relief efforts and supported non-profit work before, and now I’m excited to take on something longer-term and more immersive.
What I bring:
A strong work ethic and willingness to learn any task.
Experience in teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership.
A positive, adaptable spirit—I find joy in connecting with others and rolling with challenges.
My long-term dream is to live a storied life full of adventure, while also contributing to a more sustainable future. I see this exchange as a chance not only to support your project, but to grow into a more grounded and holistic person myself.Interests

More details about your skills
I bring some useful hands-on experience, but more importantly I’m here with a willingness to learn and adapt. My professional background is in engineering and field operations, where I worked around air compressors, hydraulic pumps, and other heavy machinery, along with some cement work and field construction tasks. Those experiences taught me to stay safety-minded, careful with tools, and respectful of physical work.
Outside of that, I’m comfortable helping with basic maintenance, cleaning, gardening, cooking, and organizing spaces. I enjoy outdoor work, learning how things are built or maintained, and contributing wherever extra hands are needed.
I don’t claim to know it all—in fact, what excites me most about Workaway is the chance to learn new skills from people with more experience than me, whether that’s farming, carpentry, animal care, or other aspects of sustainable living. I’m adaptable, easy-going, and happy to take direction, but also dependable enough to follow through once I’ve been shown what to do.
I’m particularly excited to learn new skills like pitching fences, welding, chopping wood, carpentry, and other construction or maintenance projects. Beyond work, I’m looking forward to trying Alpine skiing, surfing, and immersing myself in local communities—meeting people, sharing stories, and exchanging knowledge along the way.
At the end of the day, I see myself as someone who can contribute effort, positive energy, and a curious mind—while taking away lessons that will stay with me long after the experience ends.Age

What else ...
Outside of work, I enjoy playing guitar, swimming, hiking, and traveling. I’ve recently been learning to surf and would love to keep improving whenever I’m near the ocean.
I also like quieter activities reading (philosophy, biographies, and adventure stories), or spending an evening with board games. I’ve played classics like Monopoly, Cluedo, Scotland Yard, Chess, Catan, and Uno, and I’m always excited to learn new games.
Another fun interest of mine is Pokémon I’ve enjoyed it since I was a kid and still like playing or talking about it today. It’s something lighthearted that always makes me smile.
What I enjoy most is good company and good conversation whether it’s about music, travel, or people’s unique life experiences. I’d describe myself as easy-going, curious, and respectful, and I value both group activities and time for quiet reflection. Some more information
