  • Description

My name is Kimaya, I am 27 years old, half Italian and half Indian but born in London and am currently travelling with my parents in India. Together we run a nomadic vegan business called The Arty Vegan. I help them with supper clubs, baking, social media posts etc while we travel India, currently in Nagaland. The business started in London with my dad and one of my sisters where they opened two vegan zero waste stores in London. Since closing these I have helped them carry the brand to India, travelling with them for 6 months out of the year. We had a restaurant in Pushkar, Rajasthan for 2 years but are now moving around doing pop ups and spreading our passion for plant based, sustainable living. I have been vegan since birth like my three sisters and have a huge passion for food and hospitality. Since I was 16 I have worked in many vegan restaurants in London as a supervisor and finally a restaurant manager in the UK’s first vegan pizzeria. I became heavily involved in staff training and ran the induction for their (at the time) new site in Manchester. I am now looking for a much more flexible lifestyle after having spent the summer working on an off grid luxury camping site, living in a yurt in the English countryside. I helped with the day to day running of the site, mowing, painting, preparing the yurts for guests but most importantly driving the business to become 100% plant based. Part of my duties would be to help plan/ cook the Friday night dinners, bake the Saturday breakfast and run the Sunday brunch. I really enjoy getting stuck in, I love being outdoors and enjoy a new challenge. I have a very strong work ethic and alway throw myself whole heartedly into everything I do! When I worked for The Luna Cinema (the UK’s largest outdoor cinema) I really enjoyed getting stuck in, helping set up the bar and travelling from venue to venue with people that soon became my friends. Working in hospitality for such a long time has provided me with a multitude of transferable skills. Being vegan I also have great love for animals, particularly cats! I did some pet sitting in between jobs in London where I also did house sitting for a lady while looking after her three adorable cats! I am accustomed to working in fast paced environments both independently and as part of a team, anything that makes me grow both professionally and as a person is a plus!

  • What else ...

I have previously run a macrame braiding workshop and also a female torso clay sculpture workshop which was a real hit with the women at the yurt site I worked on. I would love to run similar projects in the future.
