Hello!

I'm a 37 years young, I was born and raised in Connecticut, and I work as a filmmaker/director based in CT and New York City.

I always loved to travel, but my filmmakinf career has demanded a busy schedule in the last few years. However after staring at screens and cameras all day, I've been meaning to make more time for myself to travel and gain new adventures/experiences/perspectives.

I also love to draw and paint animals and scenic landscapes, I carry paints pencils and a pad wherever I go. And I like to make art for my friends! I consider myself an artist with a fertile imagination, lots of curiosity and urge to experiment with different mediums and styles.

I consider myself shy and quiet but fun-loving, easy to get along with, enthusiastic and considerate person with a strong curiosity to explore and a thirst for knowledge. I was an irreverent and goofy sense of humor and I deeply appreciate honesty. I enjoy exploring the outdoors, immersing myself in different cultures and meeting new people--especially from different backgrounds/ walks of life.

This year, I started skiing and I love to hike, but I've always wanted to learn kayaking, surfing, anything fun and physically active. As far as work goes I'm open to doing things I've never tried before such as building things, gardening , working on a farm, and caring for animals. I'm also really great with kids!

I do like to bring my cameras and document my adventures through video and photos but not 24/7, I maintain a healthy balance of using my camera and being present in the moment!

I also work as a freelance shooter and editor for promotional videos. In my spare time I like to draw and paint, I've done it off and on since I was 2, but started taking it seriously starting last year.

When I got started in the film industry I've worked mainly on film sets as a production assistant and member of the light crew. lugging heavy lights, wrangling electrical cable, I also worked as a driver giving actors rides to set.

I'm very good with kids, I worked as a math tutor and and a teacher's assistant for an after school art program for children.

I don't have much experience outside of working on film sets but I'm open to learning to skillsets which is why I signed up for workaway.

I started skiing the beginning of this year. I enjoy reading all types of literature, but mainly biographies, science fiction, and literary classics.

I love going to the beach and I enjoy surfing and snorkeling. I have a fascination with the ocean and the wildlife.and love to read about it.

I want to get more into astronomy

I love to play Pictionary, Scrabble, Bananagrams, Cards Against Humanity, the list goes on. I'm open to playing any board games.

This was my first workaday trip and my first time in Alaska- it was a life-changing eye-opening experience.

I had lots of fun hanging with the doggies and caring for them. I don’t own a dog— I’m more of a dog uncle— but it was great to get to know them, care for them and above all… become friends with them. I lived with two dogs at the yurt, Lucy and Luna, and they were great roommates to hang out with— great to walk/hike with, fun to snuggle with— we really bonded. I’ll always cherish my time with all the dogs.

Gus and Emily are amazing people as well in addition to being fantastic hosts: they are very accommodating, always communicative, always making sure you’re doing well, and always open to answer questions and help you with something.
They were also nice enough to take me to the beach, after checking that the tide is low.

It was always great having dinner with them and swapping convo and jokes, plus they make a lean mean moose burger!

As someone who works behind the computer for most of the day and had suffered some massive burnout previous to the trip, Alaska was the perfect way to reset my brain. It was great to get away from civilization and I personally enjoyed being outside most of the day and doing chores. I particularly found it meditative to organize and stack firewood.

This whole trip cleared my mind and gave me more discipline to work/ exercise early, I even lost 15 pounds over one month.

At their small cabin— they have an amazing library of classic literature— I ended up reading Call of The Wild and some Hemingway Stories. A fit for this trip!

The scenery in Alaska during the winter is beautiful beyond words. Really nice skies and beautiful mountain ranges— showing different colors everyday. There’s an endless suppl snow covered trees, and I also saw some wildlife— bald eagles, rabbits, and a moose one time.

Because you are living off the grid, you do have to be alert when it comes to survival, everything down to watching out for moose on walking commutes, dressing warmly, hiking safely at the beach and remembering to load the wood stove with firewood every few hours. Stressful? No. The learning curve isn’t too hard if you’re open to it.

All of this is worth it, and I absolutely will be coming back to Alaska again. Thanks Gus and Emily!
