Description
Hi, I'm Katja, an outgoing and adventure-seeking girl from Slovenia, Europe. After living an 9 - 5 life for way too long, I decided it's time for a new chapter in life. I was working in media publishing and living a (digital) nomad life.
In recent years I've started to feel more drawn towards nature, sustainable living and eco projects. My dream is to build a small farm stay sanctuary in Bulgaria where artists and creatives can find their retreat. Before tackling this project I want to acquire some skills in building such a community, from renovating and building with natural materials to plant and animal care.
I have 8 Wokaway experiences so far:
- 3 in Bulgaria out of which 2 were house and pet sitting (2 dogs, 1 cat) in the countryside and 1 was helping out with gardening and maintenance on s mall sheep farm in Stara Planina.
- 3 in La Palma (Canary Islands): in 2 of them I was mostly helping with gardening on an off-grid land and in 1 I mostly did house sitting of 3 islandic horses, 2 dogs and 1 cat.
- In a small bungalow resort in the jungles of Thailand I assisted in running the resort from the hospitality aspect, taking care of guests and the resort. I was there for 3 weeks in 2020.
- In an animal sanctuary in Tenerife I produced YouTube videos about life in an eco community. I also took care of one of the dogs we rescued from a shelter. I was there for 4-5 months in 2021.
I'm also a member of Couchsurfing and have plenty of experience there, meeting people when I travel alone or meeting them in my home town Ljubljana, and showing them around. In the past, I also lived in Paris, in London and on a cruise ship.
I have worked so many different jobs, that I can't even name all of them. This time around I would really love to help out with gardening especially permaculture, take care of animals and learn how to build/repair, especially with natural and repurposed materials.
