Hey there! My name is Kai, and I'm doing WorkAway to understand myself and what I want out of life. Not too big of a question to answer, right? Coming out of high school, I had the opportunity to go to college, yet I could never commit my heart to this notion. I couldn't face the idea of studying something I have no experience in, and spending obscene amounts of money to do so. I'm only 23, why should I rush this process? This is my time to learn and broaden my horizons. So instead, I joined WorkAway, with the plan of learning as much as I possibly could from all of my hosts. Show me how you make a living. Teach me an instrument, a skill, a dance, whatever brings you joy in life. I'm eager and prepared to learn everything you are willing to share with me. When it comes time for me to decide what I want to do with my life, whether college or beyond, I'll be ready.
This life we've been given is a gift of immeasurable value, and I plan on experiencing mine to the fullest. They say that youth is wasted on the young, I won't let that apply to me. Making friends across continents to last a lifetime, appreciating music from cultures across the globe, broadening my horizons, and experiencing new perspectives, this is what motivates me. Learning just how diverse the Human Experience is, how different and unique everybody's life is, and seeing the beauty of diversity, is what makes me happy.Interests

More details about your skills
-My first job was at the age of 11 working with my father, who was a general contractor. He taught me extensively when it comes to construction. I have experience framing, flooring, woodwork, drywall, tiling, and painting, just to name a few. Recently, I was fortunate enough to build and manage a coffee shop, pairing two of my skills and passions. I'd love to send you pictures as I'm quite proud of how it turned out. But more importantly, I believe my dad gave me a good basis to learn more technical skills. Though I may not know how to do trades like plumbing or electrical, I expect that I'd be able to pick up these skills under the tutelage of someone experienced in that field.
-Though I still work in construction from time to time, my job presently is focused on customer service. I've been a barista for the last 8 years, and I consider myself quite skilled in customer service. Initiating conversations with complete strangers, finding common interests, or learning from them, all the while multitasking the other parts of my job. Though this will likely only help me on the social side of WorkAway, making friends with my hosts and other travelers, I still consider it a strong skill.
-I love to learn, in all forms! Starting a new skill, and watching myself gain proficiency over time is one of my great pleasures.
-I've been playing Guitar and Ukulele for about 10 years now, and I picked up a Bass Guitar for the first time about a year ago. I'd love to teach you what I know, or even better, play with you or learn your instrument of choice. Frankly, one of the hardest parts of packing for these travels is going to be leaving my instruments behind.
-I grew up in a mountain town in Colorado, one where nature is valued and prized by the community above all else. I love being outside, whether it's skiing, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, or just stringing up my hammock and enjoying the sun. I would be more than happy to share any and all of these skills with you and your family!Age

What else ...
-I mentioned this a bit in the skills tab, but I have an immense love for the natural world. This stems from my hometown in a small mountain community in Colorado. I'm about a 20-minute drive from Vail, but to be honest, our ski mountains are better. Whenever I get the chance to go skiing during any of my WorkAway's, I'll be an extremely happy man.
-Recently, I've fallen in love with Rock Climbing. Though I'd still consider myself an intermediate beginner, I will always take the opportunity to climb abroad on my travels.
-Besides these, I also love mountain biking, camping, kayaking, hiking, backpacking, and just being outside in general.
-I'm infatuated with music. Every genre, from Australian Indie Rock to French pop, Dubstep to German Metal. There are very few moments in my life where I would rather be in silence. I get bored of my music very easily, so I'm extremely excited to fall in love with my host's music. There are also countless bands and concerts I want to witness during my time in Europe.
-Lastly, I'm a voracious reader, and will definitely get myself acquainted with your Library, with your permission of course. Book recommendations are wanted and always welcome. Some more information
