Description

Hello! My name is Jose Augusto Compagnucci, and I’m originally from Mar del Plata, Argentina. I’m a Lifeguard, Engineer, and Physical Education Teacher, but above all, I’m a curious, respectful traveler with a genuine desire to grow through cultural exchange, connection, and service.

My journey began early—at the age of 10—when I joined my local scout group and spent over a month camping in the mountains of Mendoza. That experience sparked a lifelong love for nature, simplicity, and community living. Since then, I’ve carried those values across borders and into every project I’ve been part of.

Over the years, I’ve lived, worked, and volunteered in Chile, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, the United States, and several parts of Europe. In 2020, I moved to Copenhagen on a Work and Holiday visa, adapting to a new country in the midst of a global crisis. Later, I had a beautiful Workaway experience in southern France, helping a lovely couple with property and garden maintenance. I also spent a year living in Berlin before returning to Argentina in 2022. Now, I’m heading to Costa Rica with an open heart and mind, looking to continue this path of meaningful exchange and contribution.

🛎️ Work Experience & Skills
I have extensive experience in hospitality, having worked in several luxury hotels with high standards of service. At the same time, I’ve volunteered in hostels across different continents and cultures, which taught me to adapt quickly, stay humble, and always keep a good sense of humor.

I'm comfortable with general maintenance, guest interaction, cleaning, physical tasks, social media, and tech-related duties. I enjoy both physical and mental challenges, and I value clear communication and teamwork.

As a Physical Education teacher and lifeguard, I’m used to working under pressure, staying calm in emergencies, and promoting wellness and cooperation. I love outdoor activities, sports, and being near the ocean—which is one of the reasons I’m drawn to Costa Rica.

🌱 My Values
I grew up in a home where spirituality and balance were daily practices—both of my parents are yoga instructors, so values like inner peace, mindfulness, and empathy are deeply rooted in me. I approach life with a calm energy and a deep respect for others. I believe in living simply, connecting honestly, and growing through shared experiences.

Whether I’m lending a hand in a local project or learning a new skill like surfing, I’m fully present and committed. I see volunteering not just as a way to give, but also as a path to learn, connect, and evolve as a human being.

🔄 Availability & Travel Plans
I will be arriving in Costa Rica in August, but I plan to stay long-term (as long as visas allow) and eventually settle down there if everything aligns. I’m very flexible with dates, and I'm open to both short-term and long-term collaborations. I’ll be based in Guanacaste at first, but I’m happy to move around depending on the project and the connection.

Beyond my professional background, I'm someone who truly enjoys the simple things in life. I love sports and staying active—swimming, hiking, playing football, and anything that gets me moving. I'm also passionate about photography and capturing unique moments during my travels.

Board games and quality time with friends are essential to me—I believe meaningful human connections are at the heart of happiness. I enjoy cooking and discovering new flavors; sharing meals is one of my favorite ways to connect with others. I'm always curious, always learning—whether it's a new language, a skill, or a way of life.

Nature is where I feel most balanced. I was raised by yoga instructors, so my perspective on life is deeply rooted in peace, spirituality, and energy awareness. I seek calm environments, honest people, and enriching cultural exchanges.
