  • Description

    Hi i am Jonny!

I am living in Leipzig/Germany. I am a social worker and I am quite experienced in working with handicapped people, kids and teenagers.
Right now, I am kind of in between jobs and before i start with a new job alongside a job training to specialize in my profession in 2025, I want to spend some time traveling and volunteering in southeast Asia. I am planning on being around from beginning of November 2024 until March 2025.

I'd like to describe myself as an easygoing, reliable, social and fun human being with a wide range of interests.
I love to be outdoors, explore nature, go for hikes, sleep under the stars at a beach, make music, get to know people and learn about their culture, their struggles and what keeps them going, share stories about loved ones and the ones we've lost or parted ways with.
I am interested in any activity connected to gardening and/or building stuff. Also I am interested in volunteering and living in social projects for some time.

Even though i am a very social person, I realize that I am getting calmer and that I need more time for myself than i still did a couple of years ago. I am no party animal but once in a while I do enjoy a night hanging around with people, having interesting talks, making music, sharing laughter, dancing and so on...
To socially recover from these occasional evenings I like to read a book in a hammock, chill at the beach or go for a hike in the mountains...

Up until now, I've traveled a lot around Europe. My last trip longer than a couple of weeks took place when i was 19/20 years old. Back then, I also did some volunteering work via Workaway. Somehow, all the feedback that i got back then is gone - I am guessing that is because my former hosts deleted their accounts in the meantime.
For this trip, i reactivated my Workaway account because I'd like to get to now the people, the culture and the countries from a volunteering perspective again.
What I wish from hosts is to be reliable and direct about the volunteer work, the community setting and rules and the housing conditions. In my opinion, the best way to communicate is to be open and direct in a respectful way. I am trying my best to live up to it myself while I fully acknowledge that it's not always easy to find a good way of communicating with each other.

That's it for now, any more Info I'll give you when we meet at your project (:
(but don't be shy to ask me anything in a message)

  • More details about your skills

I am a social worker and I've made a lot of experiences in a wide variety of work-, traveling- and volunteering-settings. I am skilled when it comes to connecting (with) people and developing group-processes. Aside from that I provide a great amount of superficial knowledge and an even greater motivation to expand it (:

  • What else ...

I am pretty social person and easy to handle. As accommodation i don't need much, a mattress or a place to hang my hammock, some place to store my things safely, a shower and a basic kitchen - that's it. Access to Wifi would be useful but i don't need it permanently.
