Having travelled extensively in the past, visiting every continent, I've had the opportunity to learn from life in the most beautiful ways.
After working as a Language-teacher (which I loved) and being stuck in the city (which I hated) for the last couple of years, it was time for me to hit the road again, - leave the city-spheres and become a student of life again.
Since a bit over a year, I've been utilizing workaway on my journey, and have had great experiences with this platform.

I'm eager to learn more about farming and gardening, and have a special interest for herbology.
Also looking to increase my knowledge of permaculture and finding better ways of coexisting with the world around us.
I'm a quick and motivated learner, and of course I like to share my skills as well.

I'm a certified language teacher for German as a foreign language and have worked/taught in different schools in Germany and India in the past couple of years.

I love painting, drawing and crafting. In recent workaway places, I've had the possibility to work on my painting-skills, painting different images on bamboo and wood, as well as painting a giant astronaut (see photos). I loved every second of it. If you need any paintings done, I'm absolutely here for it.

Photography - I'm not a professional, but photography has been a huge passion of mine since birth and I have worked as a photographer/videographer in a youth theater for a few years, before becoming a teacher. I can also edit videos.

Additionally, I've worked in a small guesthouse in Scotland for a year, which has made me an expert in ironing bedsheets and washing the dishes.

I love taking care of plants and animals, and my main goal is to improve my skills in this field!

I'm interested in philosophy, tasawwuf, meteorology, archeology and global history, and do a lot of studying on my own in my free time to still my thirst for knowledge. Happy to nerd out with fellow knowledge-seekers over any of these topics.
I'm passionate about decolonial theory and always looking to find ways to truly decolonize... everything.

Laura, thank you for sharing your… read more knowledge with me and teaching me tons about various herbs and wild plants with so much joy and patience. It was an absolute pleasure to learn from you!
You are thoughtful, attentive and appreciative, and really made sure that I got the most out of my stay at your farm. The work was always varied. We did something different every day – from harvesting to weeding, preparing the herbs for drying, picking and processing fruit, making tinctures and syrups and exploring different fields and places in the area to look for wild herbs (which felt like a very rewarding treasure hunt).
It was a pleasure to work alongside you, learning the different skills and effortlessly drifting in and out of conversations about herbs and the tasks at hand but also just about life in general, everything and anything. Most of the tasks were so enjoyable, it didn’t feel like work at all.

It was magical to watch the garden and fields transform during the time I was there. I think during my stay everything more than doubled in size, and each day more and more flowers started to bloom and show their beautiful shapes and colors.
In the afternoons there were plenty of opportunities to explore the area, but there is also such a calm and peaceful atmosphere everywhere that I often enjoyed the benefits of simply having time to lie in one of the hammocks, reading and savoring the different sounds and fragrances in the air.

The area is great for hiking around. There are plenty of opportunities for shorter and longer hikes.
I often spent my evenings just walking up the little hill behind the house and watching the sunset. From up there you have a view of the village, the surrounding area and on clear days you can even see the Rhodope Mountains far in the distance (and up in the sky the Milky Way at night).

Special thanks also to Maxim for showing me all the different places where the cherries, plums and currants grow, for showing me how to see the garden through a child's eye and for generally being a bundle of joy with contagious smiles.

I wish you guys all the best and much success for your future plans and projects, and I hope my journey will lead me back for another visit one day.
