Description
Update: Not happy at all with the Workaway experience after volunteering in august. I don't recommend using the app/page if you are moving somewhere for more than 3 months, in these cases is 100% better to look for a real job (there are many ways). Workaway doesn't give a choice to cancel de membership or get at least a 1% refund. The system works in a way that only makes money and everyone needs stars to get somewhere, so neither workawayers nor hosts are really honest unless you don't even get to meet them.
I have my own testimony but also my girlfriend's who is in France doing the Wokring Holiday Visa like me in Japan, I've come across many other people with similar experiences as well but you won't find them using the page anymore, so don't get fooled. Only use Workaway as a last resort.
I'm not coming back to Workaway anytime soon, have a nice day.
My name is Joaquín, I'm a 26 years old, Uruguayan and also a huge languages/history enthusiast.
I've been looking for the chance to connect with people, cultures, and different ways of living. I’ve been studying Japanese for over two years with the dream of getting a working holiday visa (which I finally got) and live a year in this beautiful country. I’d love to be in an environment where I can help, learn, and be part of a shared experience.
I'm especially interested in projects that involve cultural exchange, teamwork, or anything where I can interact with other people. My main goal on this trip is to become part of this country, not just as a tourist or adventurer, but as someone who shares daily life with others, learns from them, and contributes in return.
I always say, learning from other cultures is the best way to learn from oneself.

More details about your skills
I’ve worked most of my life in sales, mainly in technology, but also as a librarian and in optical prescription. I’ve had experience as a carpenter, barman, and private language tutor (Spanish and English) for both foreigners and locals.
I’m comfortable in the water and enjoy swimming. I also studied web development for a couple of years before deciding to focus on languages and teaching, which is where I feel most motivated and engaged.
I learn quickly, adapt easily to new environments, and enjoy working with others.
Age
27

What else ...
I’ve always been a fan of chess (and I’d love to learn how to play shogi as well). As I mentioned before I enjoy swimming, and I also love football (soccer), although I don’t play anymore.
Besides that, I’ve been a gamer since my childhood and an anime fan since 2015 (I've watched hundreds).
I’m the kind of person who always has something to talk about, although I can be a little shy at first, mostly out of respect.
