Hey there! I'm Jenny 👋🌱

Originally from Ireland 🇮🇪, I’ve been lucky to live, work, and volunteer in some amazing places around the world, from teaching pottery to kids in Canada 🎨 to hands-on eco-living in Fremantle, WA 🐐🍊.

My most recent Workaway was with Shani and Tim at their incredible urban farm and sustainability hub in Fremantle. I spent two months living alongside goats, chickens, fruit trees, and community energy 💚. Whether I was tending gardens, composting, cleaning, painting, or jumping in to help prep for workshops and events, I was always up for the task and loved being part of such a welcoming and purpose-driven space.

I’ve also helped care for twins in Canada 👶👶, managed animal care on a hobby farm 🐴🐓🐶, and most recently cleaned out an engine room so I’m not afraid to roll up my sleeves and get stuck in.

My background: I’ve done part-time UX/UI design 💻, but I’m now looking to reconnect with my original studies in fashion design and marketing, especially after spending time screen printing in Queenstown last year (2024) and falling in love with life in Aotearoa 🇳🇿. I love building real connections with people and getting stuck into hands-on tasks, especially when there’s something new to learn or create along the way.

📣 Marketing & Content Creation | With a background in fashion marketing and UX/UI, I’ve created digital content for small businesses, lifestyle brands, and creative studios. 🖌️ Creative Highlights | Formally trained in creative arts, from fashion & ceramics to screen printing & illustration. One of my proudest achievements was running a pottery studio in Canada, where I taught and managed daily operations — combining creativity with leadership in a truly hands-on way.

🌿 Gardening | Grew up surrounded by plants thanks to my dad & grandad (both professional gardeners at Mount Stewart estate). I’ve helped maintain large veggie patches and know my way around compost, tools & soil.

🍲 Cooking & Baking | Big foodie! I grew up going to after-school cookery clubs and later worked in a busy café in Yallingup, Western Australia, where I did everything from baking sweet treats to cooking on the grill. I love experimenting in the kitchen and enjoy making meals that bring people together.

👧 Childcare | Spent three summers at a kids' camp in Canada teaching pottery and supporting the same group for 2-month blocks. Built great connections and saw real growth in the campers 🌟

🔧 Maintenance & DIY – From helping my family do up houses 🪚 to learning power tools at camp: I can paint, fix, drill, and confidently use tools like a jigsaw. One of my favourite projects was converting my campervan back home; insulating, lining walls, and fitting it out creatively with limited tools and lots of problem-solving.

🧼 Cleaning | Detailed and efficient. Cleaned cabins for 50+ groups between camp sessions, and also worked solo cleaning holiday and family homes in Western Australia, trusted with people’s homes and always respectful of their space.

🎣 Fishing & Kayaking | Lifelong hobbies that keep me grounded and outdoors. Used to enter fishing comps as a kid and still love the peaceful rhythm of it.
