My Next Workaway Dream
After having volunteered at multiple permaculture-style farms, in Hawaii, Germany, and Mexico, I 've noticed a prevalent focus on restoring the land and growing organic food at the expense of attractiveness.
Attractiveness of workspaces, storage areas, patios, kitchens, and much more.
My next Workaway goal is to help my host to re-set - at zero cost - the practices and mindsets which lead to unattractive common spaces.
As someone with a permaculture certification, as well as professional experience in luxury hotels AND in human resources, I can help Workaway hosts bring things to the next level.
As a financially independent (and extremely healthy & youthful) retiree, I want nothing more in life than to be of service and share my gifts to those who can use them.
Traveling through Mexico - with my carpentry tools, healthy cookware, and natural bedding - isn't easy or cheap. But as a permanent resident here, it's a privilege and a joy. I stay at properties as long as there is useful work to do and I have found many such places through word-of-mouth.
I would be misrepresenting myself if I said that I never had conflicts or differences of opinion with some of my hosts. Competence sometimes looks like arrogance. But I can say with 100% sincerity, that even when certain rides have been bumpy, I have always put friendship and humility above all else, and have never burned any bridges.
Since moving to Mexico in 2020 I have led an informal life-coaching group of young adults. For obvious reasons, much of our round-table dialogue has been conducted remotely, and in recent months, one of my spiritual brothers, Juanpa, has been traveling with me. We are now involved in our third Workaway adventure together.
And last, but hardly least, I travel with my precious, extremely friendly guardian angel, a Beagle/Spaniel mix named Fila.
