Jan Machin
Hi, I am a practical person with a great affinity for animals, and people, I have a caring and patient personality. I raised 4 boys and have 8 grand children. Now semi retired! I have time to travel. I have one son in NZ and visiting him in January 2026 I'll be in NZ for 6 weeks and would love to visit as much of this amazing country as I can. Previously have done work away in Southern Island. My son is near Wellington, still so much to see 🙂
currently working pt as a "pet sitting angel" which means I look after property and animals whilst the owners have their holiday 🙂 have some regular animals I look after in England and would love to do this in other countries.
I would be happy with most animals.
My hobbies are mainly focused on being outdoors, moderate golfer my main passion! walking and kayaking. But always looking to try new things.

I have collected some life skills in my 50+ years and most importantly to try to listen to learn and to laugh.........I am happy and healthy, I love animals and have worked with horses. I had a last minute chance to revisit the Southern Island and found Lyn and what a great find. Maybe an area not on the tourist route but wow the Otago region is definitely worth visiting.

Jan came and stayed for about a week. There is a wee bit of a difference between hosting young people and people young at heart. Jan is very well organised. I stayed for a week at this little piece of tranquility. Barb was a wonderful host and made me feel very welcome. I helped in the garden talked to the animals and generally helped where I could. It was great meeting other workaways and a place I would recommend to anyone visiting the island.
