Hi, I’m James – an easygoing English traveller currently exploring life on the road with my two furry copilots, Pancho and Rebel (aka “the Monkeys”). Together we live the nomadic campervan life, soaking up open spaces, mountain air, and the freedom of the countryside.

I come with years of experience in architecture, property reform, and off-grid living. I’ve fully renovated seven houses from top to bottom – including solar PV and hot water systems, plumbing, electrics, tiling, kitchens, bathrooms, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance. If it needs fixing, building, or improving, chances are I’ve done it!

I’ve also been an Airbnb Superhost for several years, so I understand the care and creativity that goes into making a place special and welcoming.

I love helping with community projects, countryside houses, or anything involving hands-on work, nature, or animals. I’m self-sufficient and happy to stay in my campervan on your land or project site, and I’m always up for good conversation, teamwork, and a few laughs along the way.

For me, WorkAway is about connection – meeting like-minded people, giving back, learning, and sharing skills. Whether it’s a mountain hike with the dogs or helping bring a dream project to life, I’m excited to lend a hand, share some stories, and make great memories along the journey.

I’m a practical, hands-on person with a broad range of skills built up through years of property renovation, off-grid living, and country life in both England and Spain. I’ve fully reformed several houses from start to finish, covering everything from electrics, plumbing, solar PV and hot water systems, kitchen and bathroom installations, tiling, painting, woodwork, and general repairs. I’m confident taking on most maintenance or improvement jobs and love bringing old or tired spaces back to life.

I also have plenty of experience with gardening and outdoor work — planting and maintaining vegetable gardens, pruning and caring for trees, composting, and harvesting. I enjoy working with the land and have a strong appreciation for organic and sustainable living. Whether it’s creating raised beds, trimming olive trees, or keeping a garden thriving through the seasons, I’m more than happy to get my hands dirty.

On top of that, I’m used to looking after vehicles, from light maintenance on campervans and cars to tinkering with motorbikes. I like things that work efficiently and last, so I naturally take care of tools, equipment, and machinery.

In short, I’m adaptable, reliable, and take pride in doing things properly — whether it’s fixing a leaky tap, building something new, or just lending a pair of willing hands to keep things running smoothly.

What else ...

When I’m not working with my hands, you’ll usually find me enjoying life outdoors with my two dogs. I love mountain views, long hikes, and those peaceful moments at the top of a trail where you can just take it all in. Formula One is one of my big passions, along with motorbikes and skiing — basically anything with a mix of adrenaline and fresh air.

I’ve got a soft spot for good comedy, a few great films, and proper conversations that go a bit deeper than small talk. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and learning about different cultures and perspectives — as long as we leave politics at the door or keep it friendly!

Most people describe me as easy to get along with, down-to-earth, and up for a laugh. I enjoy a good balance of quiet countryside life and a bit of social energy now and then — especially around a fire, under the stars, with good company and two sleepy dogs at my feet.
