Only one of us is travelling, Jackson Berry, to Portugal at the end of April to mid May.

Description

During 2024 we are taking a year off from school to travel around the world. We enjoy learning about different ways of life and the many opportunities new places can bring. During a work away we want to immerse ourselves in different culture and learn what it means to live in new places; such as with local food traditions. We also enjoy being in nature, learning about indigenous cultures, sports and good food! It has now been 5 months since the start of our travels and we have only a month left.

We have been in French imersion school for the whole of our lives (French is an official language of Canada). We have done one trip to a french island to immerse ourselves in the french language and enjoy what comes with learning and teaching new languages!

One of us has worked several months landscaping as well as a few years as a Lifeguard. He also works on mechanical projects on cars and things as well as some experience with web development. The other has experience working as a lifeguard for several years, experience working in customer service as a host and a barista. She has done some gardening with her mother and loves learning about animals and plants. We have done one work away on a farm in Australia for 7 days. The work included general landscaping (weeding, laying mulch, watering) as well as some harvesting of fruit trees. We also worked on a family farm in Australia for a weekend tending to baby and adult goats as well as landscaping.
