  • Description

Hello, I'm Jess from NW England (not far from Manchester) and I'm looking for new opportunities to travel on a budget. I'm a free spirited, creative thinker. I love art, nature, cooking rustic hearty food, music, exploring, learning and I'm inquisitive about the world. I currently work as a Teaching Assistant and run forest school sessions/art activities for children.

I’m off for the 6 week Summer break (July 22-Sept 01) October 27- Nov 3rd) and I’m looking to use my time efficiently over the holidays! I’m open to solo workaway or travelling with my 2 boys.

It would be a great experience for the boys to learn and experience different cultures and learn some new skills. My dad was Polish and my boys dad was half Italian so we fully embrace new cultures and particularly love home cooked hearty food.

A bit more about my family…Oliver is 16 and just left school. His younger brother, Ruben is 9. I used to travel and do community work before having the boys but now they're a bit older they can both get stuck in and it would be lovely to experience it together. Oliver is strong and much taller than me already :-). He's bright, sociable, active, sporty and got a wicked sense of humour. He likes alternative music and playing guitar. Ruben is also very active, loves climbing, thoughtful, creative and sporty like his brother. He’s learning to play drums. We’re very open to music!

I’m open to different places to travel, Europe at the minute. Ideally we would like to travel somewhere where public transport is easily accessible as I don't drive. We're all active, and used to walking so we're not afraid of a bit of a trek but we might need some assistance if things are a bit further out. But if there are local buses/trains that would suit us fine. We'd love to be by the coast if we can, we're also happy to be surrounded by countryside, lakes and mountains but it'd also be nice if we can commute to a local village/town, get to know the local area.

  • More details about your skills

I have an Arts/Media background and experience in photography and printmaking.

Over the years I've had lots of different jobs working with people in Front of House, shops, bars, cafes and theatres. I have a Media/Arts background and I have worked as a production runner for several media companies and helped out during Outreach events.

I have also worked in Community Development, working closely with different communities, looking at ways to support and strengthen the community. I have experience working with Arts charities working as an Events/Gallery Assistant.

Most recently I have worked in schools as a Teaching Assistant (up-to-date DBS) and also working in Forest School encouraging outdoor learning, such as den building, whittling, climbing trees, foraging, encouraging creativity and allowing children to play freely outdoors.

In school I would regularly organise and deliver practical activities. I would also plan and deliver workshops, such as painting, printmaking and solar printing.

  • What else ...

I love music. Although I don't play an instrument I am receptive to all sorts of music. I am a very receptive, sensory person and sensitive towards peoples energy. I love colour, food, in-depth conversation, laughing and being in touch with nature.

My son, Oliver plays a little guitar. I'd be happy for someone to share their music knowledge. My younger son, Ruben loves to draw. I also love an opportunity to get the kids away from screens, playing a board game or going on a long walk, something slightly more adventurous.
