Hi there! My name is Ian, I'm from Massachusetts, USA and I'm taking a Gap Year before going to college. I am motivated to get out of my comfort zone, connect and learn from others through culture and language, and to learn more about who I am in the process. I love physical activity, whether it be biking, running, hiking or playing sports like soccer or ultimate frisbee. I have traveled to many countries throughout Central America and West Africa, living with many different host families. I take pride in being neat, respectful, and easy-going.

English: Fluent

I have been learning Spanish for the past 6 years and have loved progressing to be able to have conversations with others who I meet. I am still not fluent but would consider myself "proficient". On an exchange trip to Senegal, my hosts ability to speak English allowed us to connect. In turn, I learned conversational French in order to connect with the rest of his family and friends. I've worked as an assistant teacher, teaching elementary English skills to young children. This fall I travelled to Chile and my Spanish has improved greatly.Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn
