Description
My name is Hope and I am an earth lover who's primary goal while traveling is to immerse myself in native landscapes, indigenous culture, and making friends along the way. I am a professional who is taking a hiatus from ten long years of intensive ecological farming of food and plant medicines along the California coast. I speak intermediate Spanish and am thrilled for the opportunities to share my human experience and learn from others.

More details about your skills
I have ten years of experience managing farms and growing an array of edible and medicinal plants on both a small and large scale. I am a professional and educator certified to teach Korean Natural Farming techniques and I am a certified Permaculture Designer. I mentor land stewards and teach how to create one's own plant fertilizers from fruits and plants, biological inoculants by culturing your own indigenous microorganisms, compost teas using native resources, and other earth-derived inputs to heal land and build healthy, thriving plant ecosystems. I can help you design and build your self sustaining farmstead/homestead/oasis from seed and help get you to a place where you are closing loops in your system and creating/utilizing your own natural resources. I have helped design and build several farm projects from the ground up that are successfully self sustaining and expanding every season. I have skills in all aspects of farming, including animal care and processing food and medicine for preservation. I also have skills in visual arts, ranging in all types of mediums from painting to graphic design. I have several years of experience living off-grid, sustained off the land, and giving back to spaces more than which is taken from them. I am a hard worker who understands that everyone has strengths and weaknesses and am aware of my own. I have great communication skills and willingness to help however I can.

What else ...
I love being outdoors and exploring. I enjoy hiking, surfing, rock climbing, cycling, and adventure seeking. I enjoy cooking, and making art in my free time. I am a macro photographer who documents microcosms and relationships between insects, spiders, plants, flowers, and earth's natural elements. I am currently writing a children's fiction book on natural farming. I am a very clean and organized person who enjoys and respects maintaining a healthy flow of energy in the physical and metaphysical. I have a lot of experience in communal living situations where resources and spaces are balanced and shared. Before my career in farming, I worked in service industry in restaurants and hospitality. Needless to say, I am very adaptable, have a low-impact on spaces (can hardly tell I'm there), quick-paced, not afraid to get my hands dirty, and practice kindness and respect for all living things. I am looking forward to making connections with others on a similar mission to heal the earth and live consciously with healthy minds and bodies. Food is medicine and health is wealth.
