  • Description

Hello! My name is Henry and I'm a student at the University of Central Lancashire studying screenwriting with film, TV and radio. When I'm not studying I work freelance for BBC Sport and BBC Local Radio.

In 2022 I travelled around Europe by Interrail and it's the best thing I've ever done. It opened my mind to the world beyond my bedroom and gave me a taste for adventure. Since then I've spent a summer working in America. I'm hooked on travelling now and love to write about my experiences, especially eating new food in new places.

As well as working freelance for the BBC since 2020, I've done all sorts of different jobs.

I started out mowing lawns for different people in my village, then worked at a different farms and the local pub through my school days.

I worked at Stonehouse Brewery for 2 years after leaving college which is one of the most fulfilling jobs I've done. Brewing and bottling the beer through the week and working in the brewery bar at the weekend - it was a young mans dream job!

I've worked in hospitality since my teens, priding myself on my people skills and delivering high standard service.

Through the summer of 2023 I worked as a general counsellor for Camp Winadu in Massachusetts. As well as working with the youngest age group on camp (6-8 years old) I specialised in teaching sports broadcasting and even ended up as the camp band's lead singer!

I've recently started volunteering for The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside, developing content and storytelling projects and working with the marketing team, evolving ideas to increase visitor engagement and awareness of the charities work.

  • What else ...

I love to read and write. While studying my screenwriting degree I've been developing some children's book ideas which I would love to take further and publish one day.

I'm a keen amateur baker and love baking treats for family and friends. I love to eat too and try new foods - I'm not one to turn down a meal!

I love camping and walking, especially with my dog Dougie.
