Profile information

Description
Grassroots, collective activism is hard work, but a joy. I have recently finished my Master's, where I created a zine on the slow violence of pesticides. I also have experience participating and working with a theatre company where refugees and people with mental and/or physical health disabilities devise our own productions and speak truth to power. I am a climate justice activist, as we all are, but still feel like an imposter saying so! I love learning, as well as walking, jogging and doing a little salsa and bachata, foraging fruit and being outdoors, and have a passion for all things creative, especially writing, spoken word, acting and music. I have written a blog and recorded and edited videos of my own poetry in the past. Most of all, I enjoy connecting with people and finding ways to give back. I don't think I will ever stop being in awe of the world.

More details about your skills
I have experience as a community volunteer in Mityana, Uganda, assisting refugees and asylum seekers in learning English and volunteering at a homeless shelter. I have also worked part-time in various front of house hospitality roles over the last 10 years, building my teamwork, communication and health and safety skills.
I have done rock climbing in the Alps, abseiled in Wales, hiked Snowdon and kayaked, walked and camped in many places across the UK. I also did ice skating to competition level when I was younger and spent many days at riding stables where I learned to do small jumps and cantering. However, I have not been able to do horse riding or climbing for several years and might need a bit of guidance before going back to them! I also hold a qualification for Life Saving swimming.
I value music and the arts, especially theatre, and curated my own blog for 10 years. I have experience co-directing, writing, producing and acting in small productions, and have trained with the National Youth Theatre in the UK.
I hold a First Class BASc in Global Sustainable Development and Life Sciences and have just completed my Master's in Global Sustainable Development. They reflect how I enjoy thinking holistically, promoting sustainability and developing solutions. I also have a keen interest in philosophy.
I am particularly interested in intersectionality and promoting voices that often get marginalised. The climate and biodiversity crisis is inseparable from the oppression of people, who often have hold the solutions. There is so much to learn, and I am always trying to be open and challenge my positionality.
