Description

My name is Grace Shaughnessy.

I am someone that has recently felt emboldened to explore the world of nature, and how other people live off the land and form a community that you can't find in a city. Having lived in the city my whole life, I have learned that I want to have the experience of working for others in exchange to have them show me their home, their passions, their family, their world.

I have always loved nature, animals, and creation, and know that will never stop being something I will want to know more about. They are my passions.

I am a student, looking to take a year or two off from school, to explore what I really want to do. I have worked for non-profits giving free medical care to low income/poverty households and individuals, I have worked for an equine therapist for the past 3 years, and have been riding horses for 4 years. I've pet sit for friends and families, both with domestic pets such as dogs and cats, all the way up to smaller livestock. I am a novice hunter, but I am looking to extend that experience. My current unofficial major is psychology and social work with an undergraduate in equine management and/or horsemanship.

As a little bit of a side hustle, I create DnD (Dungeons and Dragons) art for friends and friends of friends, and love the creative mindset involved with the game, and the freedom to create whatever I want, not just with that specific game. I also crochet, read, and write in my downtime.

I am a hard worker and like a challenge. I am mainly looking for work relating to farms, their animals, or sanctuaries. I am looking to further my experience in those fields. I would consider myself a novice in the majority of what farms and sanctuaries are about. The most experience I have is with horses, having ridden them for a year, and am aiming to further my experience in the equestrian lifestyle by learning what its like to care for them, train them (if the opportunity presents itself), and further my experience in riding. Though I am still very interested in any other animals that are apart of the farm! I am not looking for any sort of payment in return for whatever services are provided.

As said before, I love reading, writing, and art. But I also play video games with friends, both in person and online, and love puzzles and strategy games. I play Dungeons and Dragons (although not very well), and have been horseback riding since October of 2021. I'm wanting to study animal sciences in equine or avian subjects.
