Travelling
Description
I’m currently studying civil engineering in architecture (building design), which I started a year and a half ago after taking three gap years following high school. During my first gap year, I worked full-time in Denmark to save up money and later spent four months at a “folk high school”. This is a Scandinavian concept where young adults live and learn together, choosing classes based on their interests. I focused on “sustainable building”, while also taking classes in agroforestry, beer brewing, woodcarving, bouldering, and kayaking, among others.
The remaining one and a half year before my studies was spent traveling, primarily in Latin America, as well as the U.S. and Canada. These travels offered me the chance to experience stunning nature and connect with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Personally, it was a unique experience of great value to be away from my own culture and close network for an extended period of time. I used Workaway multiple times during my travels, as it provided a way to slow down my traveling, getting a deeper connection with places and people, and exchanging both skills, culture and thoughts.
This time, I don’t have the flexibility for an extended journey, but I have a month free in January and would love to get some new inspiration from traveling. I’m also eager to gain more hands-on experience in the field of building. My studies are heavily theoretical, which I enjoy, but I also like to expand my knowledge to the more practical side of construction and gain knowledge and inspiration from different architectural practices. I’m particularly interested in how building methods adapt to different cultures and environments.
If you’re working on building projects or share a passion for architecture and sustainability, I’d love to connect.Interests

I was taught French in school, but haven't used it enough. I would love the chance to dust it off. I've picked up Spanish from traveling in various countries in Latin America, and feel confident speaking it.Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

More details about your skills
I have basic housekeeping “skills” like cleaning and cooking. I’ve helped my mother in the garden since I was a kid. Since I have a great interest in both gardening and sustainability, I’ve taken a class agroforestry, and I've gained more experience and knowledge about gardening and permaculture principles at previous workaways.
I have taken part in multiple building projects, so I have some experience with construction and tools. Bio construction is a big passion of mine, and definitely something I’d like to gain more skill and knowledge in.
I’ve had part time jobs in the service industry, and I've worked full time in a laboratory for a year. I've also worked as a tutor and nanny.
Even though I have experience with a lot of different types of work, I'm not an expert in any field. My biggest attributes are my curiosity, eagerness to learn and hardworking nature. I don't shy away from new tasks.Age
