My native language is German and I would say that I am fluent in English, especially since I spent 12 months living in the U.S. I had both Spanish and French in school, each for a couple of years, but unfortunately never learned enough to actually have longer conversations. I would love to have the opportunity to improve my language skills in both of these languages. If the hosts of the volunteer project I end up at, know any other languages, I would be very interested in learning basic skills in said languages.Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

After finishing school in 2022 I was finally able to make my dream of living abroad a reality as I got the chance to do an international volunteer service through the German Christian peace organization “EIRENE”. I spent 12 months living and working in the U.S. and loved experiencing the American culture and getting to know locals as well as other international volunteers. My volunteer work at the homeless shelter “Sunrise Village” provided me with many valuable learning opportunities and many memories that I enjoy looking back on.
My main position was at the front desk/ reception of the shelter where I welcomed volunteers and donors that entered the shelter and also accommodated all wants and needs of the shelter’s residents. In addition I answered the phone and did other administrative work. I also took care of basic cleaning in the kitchen, the dining rooms and common areas. Another task I was assigned to was the clearing out and cleaning of the resident’s dorms and rooms after they moved out, as well as restocking the rooms with everything needed for new intakes.
I am hardworking, kind, enthusiastic and always want to learn something new
It is important to me to expand my knowledge in different fields and to get out of my comfort zone as often as I can, which is one of the many reasons why I want to travel and volunteer with workaway.
Giving back to others in my community has always played a big role in my life. I have been volunteering in different youth programs in my church since 2018 and I really enjoy working with kids and teenagers, but also with people of all other age groups. I am also part of our church board in a leading position.
I am a vegetarian and care a lot about sustainability as well as animal rights and I am a feminist.
I love painting and drawing and other creative hobbies. I did horseback riding for over 7 years as well as “Urban Dance” for about 4 years.Age
