  • Description

    Hi, my name is Falk.
I'm a 25-year-old environmental science and psychology student from Germany. After finishing school in 2018, I moved to Mexico for one year where I got interested in living in community and permaculture. I also worked in schools there and hold workshops with children and teenager about sustainability.

After coming back to Germany in 2019, I visited several projects in and around Germany regarding a wide range of topics: Some had more to do with growing vegetables, some were about planting and growing trees, but others again had their focus on crafting and e.g. rebuilding houses. Many of these projects were run by (little) communities where I felt very at home all the time.
When Covid hit Germany in March 2020, I moved into an ecovillage where I organized a housing project that intended to welcome everyone without requesting money for food or accomodation.

In Autumn 2020, I moved to a little city in the north of Germany (Lüneburg) where I started studying environmental sciences and psychology which I will finish just now in March 2025.

I’m driven by the search for utopias for the world and am constantly looking for ways of implementing these utopias into reality now already. These can be on an ecological, systemic, or a personal level.
I try to figure out what makes a “good” life. My academic and personal interests go into the direction of finding out how all beings can be well and live together peacefully, especially in the current times and when facing the challenges of the 21st century.
Many workaway projects that I am interested in embody parts of utopias for me that I’d like to learn more about and see what I can learn from them for my own life.

I’m an easy-going and flexible person that can get used to different circumstances quickly. I made experiences with different shelters and am not in need of high comfort.

More details about my language interests
I'm a native German and learned English since primary school. Now, I study mostly in English and lived in Edinburgh for one semester. I learned Spanish during my stay in Mexico. Although, I probably forgot some words, I can still communicate everything that matters :D I'm happy to share my knowledge and would be interested in refreshing my Spanish or deepen my French. I had two years of French at school but forgot most of it. I'd also be curious in learning other languages in case the opportunity presents itself.

  • More details about your skills

I worked in several vegetable gardens in Mexico and Germany and know some things about permaculture. In general, I have a broad knowledge about sustainability and many related topics. I also used to teach sustainability related topics to children and school classes. I tutored middle school students in Math and Physics.

I’m used to working with a computer, so I have good knowledge of that. I also looked into the basics of website programming for some time. I'm a huge excel fan!

I get along very well with animals and also lived together with some in different phases of my life.
I would say, I have basic skills in crafting activities.

I have a passion for cooking and made experiences with cooking for larger groups (~15 people / 3 of my always super hungry roommates - makes up more or less the same amount).

Apart from that, I consider myself as quick learner who is interested in learning new things.

  • What else ...

I play chess (I dream about beating my father one day, but that’s a long way to go) and I used to play a lot of football in my childhood. Today I like to go for runs or hikes. In general, I try to spend much time out in the nature.

I've been active in climate activism some time ago but stopped campaigning and am currently looking for new ways to engage myself.

I'm interested in healthy diets and like to cook and bake, especially bread.

I love going to music festivals. When I was young, I mainly went to Hard Rock or Heavy Metal festivals, nowadays it's a lot broader and I listen to different types of music. If I would have to choose a single favourite song, it would probably be "Year of the Cat" by Al Stewart.

I’m quite easy to connect with and like to spend time with other people. Of course, I also need time for myself.
