  • Description

I am Estelle, a traveler from France who is exploring Canada since April 2023.
After I spend a full year in Canada’s Eastern provinces, I will arrive in British Columbia in March 2024, to kick-start my second year of travel and my discovery of the West.

I'm enthusiastic and full of joy ! I'm also an organized personn, courageous and curious about everything. I am often told that I am calm and gentle :)
I like the idea of living several lives in one... In my first life I practiced as a nurse. In my second life, I managed on my own a hostel for pilgrims on the way to Compostela. And my third life started in Canada where I explore a life with less consumption and more exchanges and mutual help between humans. I fundamentally believe that we all have to gain by sharing

I really feel like an actor in my life, anchored and aligned with my values. I am driven by desire for self sufficiency, ecology and community.
I highly love cooking : alternative, vegetarian, world cooking (I've tried to take a cooking class in every country I've traveled to!) I enjoy hiking, practicing meditation and yoga. I am also trained in Reiki (first degree) I try to take care of my body and soul
I grew up in the countryside with many animals and i love having contact with them.
I have ecological and feminist values and I tend towards minimalism (well, there's still work to do!). I make my household and cosmetic products, and I am attentive to my way of consuming to best respect the planet.
I have often lived in a shared house and I love this way of life where we learned from each others.
I am trained in non-violent communication, because living and working together involves knowing how to communicate functionally on his needs, his feelings.
I did an introduction to permaculture.
I don't want to have children of my own but I want to have children in my life because I really like spending time with them, their joy and energy and I also really like the idea that it takes a whole village to raise a child.
I think that one the most precious thing we have in life is time. And I have the desire to share mine in projects that deeply inspire me, at the heart of living things and move towards a less individualistic way of life.

  • More details about your skills

I've been working as nurse for fourteen years in a psychiatric hospital, in a child psychiatry service and in a mother-baby hospital service in support of parenthood. Taking care of people is a part of me. I developed precious relational skills (listening, observation, patience) and organization skills as much as my team-work competencies. Given my long experience on a
replacement team with different assignments each week, I became very flexible and
    autonomous in taking initiatives.
In needs of new challenges, I operated on my own and for two years a hostel with thirteen beds along a hiking trail in France. I worked sixteen hours a day, seven days a week, for seven
months straight, managing all the daily tasks (cleaning, cooking, welcoming...) and all the unexpected situations.
It was my first work experience
after being a nurse, and after a few short months it felt like I had been doing it my whole life!
This adventure brought me a lot of joy, and helped me to have more self confidence and self
affirmation. Above all, I learned to work while respecting my values and listening to my heart.
I have still skills to develop but I am starting to get the hang of the power tools. I get a lot of joy and satisfaction from building things with my hands and I'm still willing and curious to learn! I really want to explore new areas.
I love being in nature, having my hands in the ground, learning new skills - it makes me feel so alive !
