We're Emily and Sara, two perpetual globetrotters originally from the United States, but met and became friends in Japan while living and working on the JET Programme. After a few years abroad, we decided to live together while Sara perused her masters in Higher Education and Emily honed her skills (and her funds) for the next adventure.
Emily loves exploring and learning as much as she can about new and different ways of life. She especially treasures new connections and building friendships all around the world and has found that no matter how beautiful, exciting, or unique somewhere is, unless she's able to make connections that are just as beautiful and exciting, then a major aspect of the adventure is lost. Being able to help others and make them happy is what makes her feel most fulfilled.
Sara is driven by the thrill of living abroad and discovering new cultures. Whether it’s learning Japanese, exploring local fashion, tasting new cuisines, or immersing herself in unique traditions, she loves experiencing the world through the eyes of others. Her time teaching children in Japan was an incredibly rewarding chapter, where she not only supported their academic journeys but also grew from their diverse perspectives. She is always excited to make new connections, forge lasting friendships, and dive into new adventures. Moving forward, Sara aims to use the experiences she’s gained from living and working abroad to help international students feel welcome and thrive in their future university studies.

More details about your skills
We both have a lot of experience traveling and living/working in foreign countries, making friends from all walks of life, and helping communities however we can.
Emily has a degree in history and political science and works as a marketing head for a small tech company, but loves hands-on work. She recently spent two years teaching ESL in Japan and Spain and spent five weeks working in Scotland (through Worldpackers) alongside volunteers from all over the world in a 16th century castle, rebuilding the grounds, cooking, cleaning, and caring for three Scottish wolfhounds. She's experienced in house, pet, child, and garden care through house and pet sitting for friends, family, neighbors, and strangers alike, having watched an array of different homes and fur babies. Emily also has extensive experience in hospitality (hosting, greeting, cleaning), having worked customer support/service for 8+ years, as a ski resort employee, and worked 4+ years in retail.
Sara has a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with a Japanese minor, and during college she worked in housing and residence life, supporting international students and learning how to build a welcoming community. After graduating, she spent two years in Japan teaching English, where she loved learning about Japanese culture and encouraging her students to have fun speaking English. Teaching in Japan encouraged her to complete a master’s degree in Higher Education. Using her degrees, Sara's goal is to continue supporting others who want to learn English, as well as to use these experiences to explore culture together.
