Description
Hi, my name is Emilia, and I’m from Hamburg in northern Germany.
I graduated from high school in 2019 after attending a Waldorf school, which has a strong focus on art, practical work, and social interaction. This experience sparked my deep interest in all forms of art, and I love discovering new ways to express creativity.
After graduation, I worked for an organization that placed me with different families who needed help with childcare and household tasks. I really enjoyed this job because I love working with children — spending time with them always makes me happy.
At the beginning of 2020, I traveled to Southeast Asia and explored several countries. This trip ignited my passion for traveling, and since then, I haven't stopped exploring new places and cultures.
I have a deep love for the sea and am passionate about all kinds of water sports. I also enjoy working outdoors, whether it’s with plants or building things — being in nature brings me a lot of joy.
In 2022, I spent most of the year in Serra Grande, Bahia (Brazil), where I did various types of volunteer work, including helping at a school, a surf school, a carpentry workshop, and even sewing clothes. In September, I traveled to Bolivia and stayed for seven weeks. I started with a three-week Workaway in Santa Cruz, working in the garden and cleaning Airbnb rooms.
After Bolivia, I traveled through Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and Mexico, where I continued doing volunteer work through Workaway. I eventually made my way back to Brazil, traveling through the Amazon region on different boats — an unforgettable experience.
Last year, I traveled through Mexico with my sister and learned how to build houses out of clay. The following summer, I worked at a hotel in Switzerland, and at the end of 2024, I worked as a tour guide in Hawaii.
Currently, I’m in Brazil looking for my next volunteer opportunity. I love meeting new people and learning about different cultures and traditions. I believe that working in different places around the world with diverse people is one of the best ways to grow and broaden your perspective.
