Description
Hallöle, I am a Danish-German bouncy ball with a little too much energy!
I started traveling two years ago after finishing high school and got hooked! I drifted through Mexico for about 6 months, working on farms and ranches along the way and staying with numerous hosts. Workaway opened so many doors into the lifes and cultures of other people for me and during that time and I became a big fan of the concept. The memories and friendships I made were some of the most beautiful I've had and so I decided to get going again as soon as I could. In rural Louisiana, I stayed with a family for about a month helping out. There in the swamps, I became part of the community and I learned a lot about their way of living. In return, besides helping all around, I could also offer them a different perspective on the world. They're all family to me now :)
I love to document my trips in writing and photos & videos and I’ve been sketching since I’d come out of my mother’s womb. I also have quite the knack for technology and I know, for example, a lot about building websites - so far I’ve built three websites for different hosts who were starting their businesses. :D Because I like both, the technical and the artistic side of things, I decided to study architecture and got accepted into Germany's No 1 art school in Berlin(Universität der Künste, UdK) where I’ve been studying for two semesters now. I’ve learned so much about structural design, building materials, and technical drawings(CAD) at this point and I’m stoked to bring these new skills into the real world! One time in Mexico for example, we designed a whole adobe house from scratch and then built it with our own hands from the ground up - just thinking what I could do now makes me super excited! :)
Even though settling down somewhere on my own for the first time and learning to handle daily life has been rewarding, there’s still that urge to go back out on the road again. To scratch that itch I got myself a working holiday visa for Canada and I’ll be spending my semester holidays there!! After all that working behind a screen, I can’t wait to get my hands dirty again! Going from farm to farm, I have done everything from painting murals and helping in households to taking care of cattle, horses, and other really dirty, heavy-duty stuff - I’ve really been missing that! I’m longing to explore this enormous country and I’m already thrilled to meet all you fantastic people soon!! :)
See you out there!
Emil

More details about your skills
I can do almost anything related to visual media: I know how to use Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, InDesign, Premiere Pro and After Effects, I am also quite good at tech and math and I code a lot(specifically websites with HTML, CSS and JavaScript). I use these skills to create digital drawings, design, websites, animation, movies, a lot of photography, and all sorts of other things. I've even won a couple of quite prestigious awards, and the first book I've done the design for will roll out to stores later this year.
Of course now, I have learned quite a bit about technical drawings and plans in ArchiCAD.
Besides the special skills I can also do most types of physical work like cleaning, housekeeping, fixing things, etc.. I have worked on farms, fields and construction sites. I'm not afraid to get dirty, I get along with animals just as well as with humans and can pick up new things very quickly!Age
