Norway - from Mar 2024 until Apr 2024 View allDescription
Hei! I'm Eivor, 19 years old and from southern Germany! I'm looking to visit Norway and learn more about homesteading/farming/animal-caretaking!
I speak German, Hungarian and English fluently; I started learning Norwegian about 3 years ago but I definitely need more practice :)
Scandinavia and especially Norway are so fascinating and inviting to me, which is why I started my bachelors in Scandinavian Studies in Munich in October 2023.
Because of my degree, I love learning and linguistically dealing with languages, as well as literature of all kind. I myself am rather creative and have been drawing and writing since forever, I also enjoy other crafts like crocheting, knitting and knotting.
If I'm not reading or creating, my calling is outside on mountain and forest trails - hiking, going for a longer tour or just wandering around and observing nature is how I spend my days. I do archery when I have time and try riding horses whenever I have the chance to.
I have mainly worked with animals so far - first and foremost dogs (sled dogs, herding dogs, pets), but also cats, sheep, chicken and a little bit with cows and horses.
I enjoy work with them most as sometimes I understand animals better than humans ;)
Other than that, tasks in and around the house are no problem either, I'll gladly help in the garden or on a farm and hopefully learn a little more about plants/herbs and farm animals, especially sheep and horses.
While I am a rather quiet person, I listen to others even more and love hearing stories from them. Working in a group is no problem, I find peace while spending time in nature or with the animals :)Interests

I work very patiently (some would say a little slowly) but also very precisely; I believe this type of work-ethic is the best suited one when taking care of animals :)
Most of my experience is with animals and the work revolving around them (feeding, cleaning their homes, training/spending time, cuddling of course) but I also see myself doing more physical labour like painting, helping with repairs or even carpentering and crafting.
I'm always open to learn something new!Age

What else ...
I watch and observe birds on a regular basis - corvids are my favourite; the city is greatly suited to observe and learn more about their behaviour and social structures!
Before studying literature, I wanted to become an ornithologist or veterinarian.
It might not seem like it but I don't mind cold weather; I prefer winter by far over summer :)Some more information

I eat vegetarian for the most part, but that's just a preference, I don't mind eating meat
Feedback
The work was varied so there was always something interesting to do - projects like painting some of the buildings, cleaning out, weeding, and chopping firewood ensured that one wouldn't get bored while also learning a lot of new skills!

The landscape is absolutely beautiful and well suited for tours (especially in company with one of the dogs)!
The work I did was very diverse, it ranged from basic garden work and tidying up around the farm to caring for the many animals, which was my favourite part!… read more
The moment I arrived I felt at home and I got integrated into their daily routine right away, so I never felt left out or out of place. There was always some kind of work to be done, but they made sure to never overwork… read more
