  • Description

Hello! I’m Elías from Costa Rica.
I come from a family of farmers and electricians, so from a young age, I have worked in the fields with farm animals, as well as in repairs, renovations, and home construction. I initially studied Hotel Management at a Tourism school, but life took me on a different path, and for the past 15 years, I have been working in IT Network Security Engineering.
This year, I have decided to make a change, learn a new language, explore different cultures, and develop new skills. I recently discovered Workaway thanks to a traveler in La Fortuna de San Carlos, and I felt it was the perfect time to travel and embrace new experiences.
I consider myself good at making genuine connections with people, something I have developed in Costa Rica, a tourist-friendly country where I am used to interacting with people from all over the world.
I feel fortunate because I learn quickly and I’m highly motivated to improve my skills in German, Italian, French, or any other language. In return, I can teach Spanish and English; I also speak Portuguese. Additionally, I can share my knowledge in network security.
1: I am an adventurer at heart; I love hiking and the beach. Also, my bicycle is practically an extension of my body.
2: My first trip was to Disney World as part of a language exchange program to learn English. During that time, I worked as a lifeguard, at the front desk, as a bellman, and as a concierge, performing various tasks in Disney World parks in Orlando, Florida.
My goal now is to continue learning from life, discovering new cultures, and exploring sustainable ways of living. I want to learn new languages and develop skills in areas such as carpentry, cooking, baking, permaculture, and more.

  • More details about your skills

I studied Hotel Management, which provided me with a solid foundation in hospitality, customer service, and administration. My first trip was a language exchange program in Orlando, at Disney World. However, life led me to specialize in IT Network Security Engineering, where I gained advanced technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.

I am a self-learner and always eager to keep learning. I have an interest in gaining some cooking skills, as well as gardening and agriculture, and I enjoy hands-on work such as carpentry, among others, which allows me to apply my creativity and manual skills.
