  • Description

I am looking to meet people and find communities that reflect my own philosophy of reality in many ways but especially this: that the human race needs to quickly and permanently change it's current paradigm of money, status and power as the end all be all, and transition to a spiritually awakened and environmentally derived/cooperative world. This is a broad statement I realize and I'm happy to provide more specifics. I am born and raised in the US and am looking for lifestyles other than what tends to be the most prevalent politics, culture, and economy of the US (or perhaps the West). I think the world we will create is one in which we live in harmony with our ecology and ourselves. A world with diminished ego!

I enjoy many things deeply. I love music and movies and I make music and movies. I want to make things for the rest of my life. I play bass, drums, guitar, piano and sing. And I'd love to play anything else I can get my hands on. In some ways, creating is all I feel I know how to do. I have recently gained a passion for physical and mental health which has led me to become very interested in consciousness and food. I'm reading a book trilogy called My Big TOE right now that concerns the unraveling of realities mysteries by exploring consciousness and awareness through meditation. There's a few dishes I can cook very well but I would say I'm still new to cooking as a whole. I try and eat clean ingredients and stick to healthier foods a lot more now than when I was growing up.

I enjoy reading and nature quite a bit. I am an Eagle scout and have spent a lot of time hiking, camping, and doing other outdoor things. Being outdoors gives me a sense of peace, adventure and fantasy almost. I'd say this is why traveling is so appealing to me.

More details about my language interests
I want to learn languages the rest of my life but I do find the best way is to immerse myself in the language. I haven't done as well in classroom settings. I took Spanish for a number of years in school but never integrated it well. I learned a few phrases in Portuguese and Italian during my times there. I'm interested in these languages as well as Arabic and Hindi.

  • More details about your skills

Following my high school graduation in 2017 I went on a six month gap year to Italy and Portugal (roughly three months each). In Italy I worked on public beach and research center picking up trash, translating the Italian website into an English version and helping with odd jobs needed. I also worked at a farm in Italy where we tilled soil and planted vegetables.

In Portugal I worked with the Portuguese volunteer organization Just-A-Change where we renovated houses. I helped install plumbing, mix cement, put up drywall and apply cement to floors and ceilings.

In high school I did technical aspects of shows for my school's theater program. Most of the work involved building and painting wooden sets. This process often went as follows; measuring wood, cutting wood, assembling the pieces using nail guns, glue and screws, and then sanding and painting. I did all of these parts at one point or another in my three years involved with the theater department.

As required for Eagle Scout rank in BSA, I selected and led a project benefiting the community. I ended up designing, building, sanding and painting two sets of tables for my high school theaters makeup room as well as painting the makeup room and installing mirrors on the walls. All this I did with help from boys in my troop and people I went to school with.

In less official circumstances, I have spent time doing weeding and yard work for friends and family. Through Boy Scouts, I have participated in quite a few Eagle projects that ranged from building stairs to fences. And additionally I have volunteered at a few trash pick up days and local gardening shifts nearby.

I'm not sure I'm unable or unable to learn how to do anything. I am unwilling to handle chemicals dangerous enough to leave a lasting effect if accident occurs. Or even if no accident occurs and there is still a lasting effect! I haven't had an experience like this but I plan not to, all the same. I would be open minded to helping with animal slaughter but I don't think it's something I would enjoy. Again, I have no experience with this, but I'm dubious about the lasting impact it may have on me.

  • What else ...

I love playing outdoor games or indoor board games.

I'm a big fan of LEGOs.

I'd absolutely love if you have any musical instruments at your workaway!

I do Wim Hof breathing and I try and do cold exposure when I can.

I love fixing things, mechanical or otherwise. I once received a clothes dryer for free because the rubber belt had snapped. After some lengthy internet research, I bought the right diameter belt and took apart the dryer and was able to fix it. Still works, and cost about $30 instead of whatever it would've cost to pay someone else to fix.

I love plants, animals and nature.

Artists I love: The Flaming Lips, The Beatles, Beastie Boys, Radiohead, The Strokes, The Voidz, M.I.A., Jonny Greenwood, Thom Yorke, The Jackson 5, The Supremes, Q-Tip, Jack White, Tame Impala, Leona Naess.

Movies I love: Raising Arizona, Boogie Nights, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Days of Heaven, Cinema Paradiso, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Prestige, Some Like It Hot, Panic Room.
