Description
I'm Diego and I'm originally from Bolivia, South America. I lived in Bolivia until I was 19 years old, and then moved to the United States to study Industrial Engineering. After 7 years studying, I graduated university :) Instead of moving back to Bolivia or staying in the US to work, I decided to start a new adventure... and I decided to hit the road and travel to Europe!
My mother is Bolivian. My father is German. I'm a mix of the two, and I have both nationalities :)
I really enjoy and have a passion for:
- Literature (I am really into Latin American literature). I know deep inside that one day I would like to write a book.
- The arts (I like art in general, but my interest tends to gravitate towards painting).
- Interesting conversations about any topic. Friendly and educated discussions are very entertaining.
Lately, I developed an interest for water sports (sailing, kitesurfing, windsurfing). I believe that people that practice these sports experience a great feeling of freedom while practicing them.

I waited too long to write this note, but I am finally doing it.

The experience itself:
As I reflect on the amazing time I had with the Alter's, I certainly feel butterflies in my stomach and a healthy dose of nostalgia. They are great hosts and truly valuable individuals, but, above all, they are a beautiful family!!… read more The Alter's are a team, and that makes their home a very enjoyable place to "work" at. I never felt I was working while staying with them... not only because walking Abby (the dog) was very nice and not hard work at all, but also because I was treated very well. Moreover, I got to improve my German and make friends for life!

Hannover, the house, food, etc.:
My room was very comfortable and the food was always tasty!!! The area around the house is very nice and a lot of very beautiful cities and towns are close by. Moving around by S-Bahn and bus is cheap and the Alter's have some bikes that you could borrow. Hannover, is a fun city to visit and there many things to do there (museums, night life, etc.).

The family & friends:
Heike: She has lots of positiv energy and an amazing drive! We practiced Spanish together and she improved her Spanish really fast. She is always ready to help and she enjoys having a good conversation. She is very organised and is both, a trip organiser or an Amazon Guru :) she really enjoys traveling and she is an explorer!
Gerd: OptiGrill genius. Very enjoyable man to talk to, specially around the chimney. Brings peace to the house.
Sver(daughterNr.1)&Tim: Nice couple, very focused on their careers and fitness. Sver owns a very big horse that we took for a walk around the woods (fun!).
Swantje(daughterNr.2)&Helge: Fun couple. Alternativ vibe and electronic music experts. I went out with them and enjoyed the "craziness" very much.
ABBY: Super fit and cute dog. She can go for walks all day long :) I would drive the bike 15 km some days, and she would run by my side without a problem ;) Abby taught me how nice it can be to have a pet at home!
Christine (Heike's friend): Very sweet person with a great heart. Felt like part of the family.
Edeltraud (Gerd's mother): Lovely woman with very good cooking skills.
Arno&Marlene (Heike's parents): A great couple. One could talk hours with them without interruption. Arno is an encyclopedia, and knows a lot about Hamburg. I learned a lot while talking to him. Marlene knows a lot about sports and it was very nice to walk with her around her home town, hearing the great stories about her childhood.

GREAT EXPERIENCE THAT I WILL NEVER FORGET! ALTERS, THANK YOUU
