  • Description

    Hello!

My name is Daniel and I am an exceedingly adventurous person pursuing a gap year of travel after graduating college in May '25 with a chemical engineering degree. I uniquely enjoy deep, extensive conversations about meaningful subjects in life and other people's life experiences. I am traveling to push my comfort zone and resourcefulness in places that are foreign and challenging for me to get around. In addition, I travel because I am extremely fascinated by geography and history; these interests make me an avid hiker, outdoorsman, and explorer of cultural experiences like museums and historic architecture.

I'm using my gap year to gain new perspective, learn more about myself and whether I want to live abroad long term, and to learn new skills from my workaway hosts. I'm very excited for the people, places, and reflections that await me in my year of travel!

More details about my language interests
I work as an ESL (English as a Second Language) tutor with Ringle, a company that connects South Koreans in professional work roles with native speakers to improve both their professional and native-sounding English. I want to be immersed among native French and Spanish speakers when possible. I will happily volunteer with any host that looks to be a good fit, though the opportunity for a Spanish or French language exchange or to share my English ability would be extra fun.

  • More details about your skills

I have three summers of experience in fields relating to managing customer relationships, including the chemical and financial planning businesses. These internships have made me very confident with interacting with adults of all ages and varying backgrounds and will help me to connect with people during my travels.
I have also worked as a yard landscaper, a country club as a caddie, and as a busser/server for a restaurant. Outside of paid work, I have volunteered regularly for a recycled goods and furniture store with Habitat for Humanity. This position frequently included moving heavy objects, pricing new items, and assisting customers. All of these experiences have made me well-acquainted with common service jobs and volunteer roles that are common on workaway.
At all of my jobs, I was recognized as a very hard worker, and I intend to carry this work ethic into my workaway opportunities.
