  • Description

Hello there! My name is Dane-Mei, I'm from the Netherlands. I'm super excited to bring some peace and joy to my soul by going on a workaway to Norway! I've always wanted to go for the beautiful nature, but it's quite an expensive country for travels. This is the perfect chance for me to learn new practical and social skills, and to immersive myself into the Norwegian culture. If there would be a place where I feel most inspired, grounded and at ease, it is: nature! And preferably surrounded by animals. In my daily life, I enjoy forest walks (unfortunately no mountains in the Netherlands), practicing yoga, being with my friends/community, preparing/eating delicious food and dancing. I am also really a cosy someone: I love warm drinks, cuddles, conversations and candle light. Overall, I'd say I have a kind and open nature, with a proactive and organized attitude. From my au pair experience I've learned to trust on these qualities and instincts, always handling situations with care and attention. It truly brings me so much happiness and energy when I can exchange with people that I meet along the way:)

  • More details about your skills

As mentioned before, I have had experience being an au pair in the French Alps, taking care of a five year old kid. I was preparing food, taking him to school etc, and just playing with him/being part of the family. I currently work in a kitchen, where I learned a lot of skills regarding preparing and making the food in a restaurant. (However, it is quite different from cooking at home!) Other than that I'm also volunteering by organizing events for my community. And I am a proud cat mom, I raised a kitten, which was one of the happiest moments of my life. But I love other animals too! I also do petsitting for people that I know personally:)

  • What else ...

I love playing (board) games! I also prefer vegetarian food and sometimes fresh fish. I do have a weak spot for good pastries even though I'd say I'm more of a savory person. I'd like to learn how to make them myself too! I also really enjoy a good film/book, with a cup of tea/matcha. Fun fact: I went on a winter adventure in Sweden, but on the Norwegian border (Grovelsjon), where I learned how to camp in a fjall! It was a really insightful trip, and I'm glad I managed to survive in severe temperatures (around -12 up to -18 degrees). I have finished my studies in Philosophy and Gender studies (used to be Womens studies in the NL).
