Description
Hi! My name is Colette Verheule, currently living in Antwerp, Belgium and I just finished my master's degree in interior architecture.
After years of studying, I’m taking a gap year to explore the world, meet new people, and immerse myself in different cultures and ways of living. For me, traveling is not just about seeing new places it’s about learning , connecting, and getting to know the local traditions.
Throughout my studies, I worked in hospitality for 7 years as a waitress, so I’m used to working hard, staying positive under pressure, and interacting with people. I’ve also done a lot of babysitting and volunteered for 5 years as a supervisor on youth holidays with Jongerentravel, guiding groups of teenagers on trips abroad. But besides that, I am very studious and very open to new experiences.
Dutch is my native language, but I speak fluent English, some French, and a little bit of Norwegian and German. I love picking up new languages and learning through real-life experience.
I’m excited to discover new places, contribute where I can, and learn from the people and cultures I encounter. I’m open-minded, motivated, and ready to help out in any way I can so we can exchange our experiences with each other :)
Looking forward to meet you!
Colette

More details about your skills
I recently graduated with a master's degree in Interior Architecture and am currently taking a gap year to explore new cultures, places, and ways of living. Over the past seven years, I’ve worked consistently in hospitality as a waitress, which taught me to work efficiently, stay calm under pressure, and adapt easily to new environments. I’m also experienced in childcare, having babysat regularly and volunteered for five years as a supervisor for teenagers on summer holidays.
I’m creative, practical, and enjoy working both with people and with my hands, whether it's helping with daily tasks, organizing spaces, or assisting with DIY or artistic projects. I’m open-minded, respectful, and curious to learn from others while also contributing with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.

What else ...
In my free time, I love staying active. I regularly go to the gym and enjoy long walks. I’ve always been passionate about sports and have practiced judo, gymnastics, swimming, volleyball, and hockey over the years. I still go snowboarding and even teach others how to snowboard.
I also enjoy creative hobbies like sketching, photography, and listening to music. I'm very curious about other cultures and love discovering them through travel, local architecture, food, and conversations with people.
I'm especially interested in meaningful social connections and community-focused initiatives, something I explored deeply during my studies, particularly in my final project.
