  • Description

Hi!! I am a 26 year old Canadian who really loves workaway :) I am currently doing a Master's in Global Health at the University of Bergen in Norway. I am looking to do some work related to my thesis while travelling, hopefully in Madagascar where I am really interested in how life is changing in rural places with climate change, especially for women. I would love to be able to contribute in some way while I am visiting - my goal would be to stay in one place for several months in order to really get to know people and be a small part of the community. I speak French and English, and am learning Malagasy to help support this goal of connecting and talking about ecological knowledge!

I’ve used workaway a few times as well as other work exchange sites and finding work in person when I arrive somewhere. I have worked on farms, wineries, hostels, restaurants, construction projects, and with animals. The time I have spent working on farms as part of a family or in community has been by far the most meaningful part of my travels. I have learned a lot of resourcefulness, initiative, flexibility, and DIY skills.

In my free time, I write, meditate, have very enthusiastic dance parties, go out into nature, and enjoy having a good conversation and real connection, even if there is a language barrier. It is important to me to live life sustainably and in close relationship with nature, and I value learning about how other people manage to achieve this.

  • More details about your skills

I am social, curious, and open to anything. I value trying new things and picking up new skills across diverse work experience. In Canada, I have worked in hospitality, healthcare, academic research, teaching, construction, and in social work settings. Internationally I have mostly worked in hostels, restaurants, and on farms, and have experience with small scale vegetable production as well as with sheep, cows, goats, pigs, and chickens. I also spent a month in Estonia working with adults with special needs, can cook for big groups, and have lots of childcare experience.

I am currently getting my Master's in Global Health from the University of Bergen, and have a Bachelor's in Health Sciences from McMaster University. I can teach about public health and research! Previously, I have taught group dynamic and interpersonal skills like cooperation and cross-cultural communication.
