  • Description

I'm an active nature-loving girl from the south of Germany. I am currently on a gap year, seeking diverse experiences and cultural exchange. I like always being on the move and I have worked for a year in retail, so I'm not exactly inept when it comes to physically demanding work.
Still, I know that I have a lot to learn but I am always optimistic and see every challenge as an opportunity to either broaden my range of abilities or to become better in the abilities that I already possess.

More details about my language interests
I am always eager to learn new things and I believe the best way to learn about another country is to also learn its language or at least attempt to learn it. I would also love to teach the languages that I know so far. I had some experience tutoring students at my school and I believe as long as somebody is truly willing to learn they will be successful in their endeavors.

  • More details about your skills

During my school years I have collected several different experiences in internships and as a part-time worker. I have worked in a kindergarten, tutored several students at my school over the course of 4-5 years (usually in languages like English and French) and I have volunteered several times at a summer camp in Munich.
Apart from that, I have worked part-time at a local bakery for three months, as well as in the customer service department of an IKEA store in Munich. My tasks as a part-time co-worker in customer service included taking care of children in our "Småland" (Småland is a childcare service at IKEA that is meant to facilitate the shopping experience for customers that come with their family).
My most recent work experience has been a year of retail work at IKEA. This experience has definitely shaped my abilities and my personality the most, as it was not only physically but also emotionally demanding. I quickly learned that effective communication, organization and time and self management is crucial for a productive and comfortable work environment.
My tasks included a wide range of areas as our store had to adapt to the local covid measures and regulations during my time of working there. Therefore my main tasks during the open times included advising customers, preparing communication and info tags, assembling furniture from time to time and ensuring a smooth goods flow in our department. During lockdown I worked with colleagues in a small team to provide customer service via service hotline and process customer orders.
Apart from work experiences I have also collected some personal experiences, mainly concerning languages and cultural exchange. In school I have particpated in two scholar exchanges, one with a school in France and one with a school in the Netherlands. These exchanges peaked my interest in travelling, language learning and seeking experiences abroad. In my final year of school I participated in a Model UN programme that helped me have more confidence in myself and my abilities and also made me realize the importance and the value of the connections that I made with the other students from abroad.

  • What else ...

I really want to experience life outside the comfort and safety of a metropolitan area. This isn’t just so I can add it as a “cool thing I did” on my resume or so I can check it off a “cool stuff to do” bucket list. My interest in those kind of experiences isn’t superficial. I wanted to get out of my bubble for a very long time but have only now, that I’m of age, been given the chance to go abroad independently and really do the things that I want to do, go to the places I want to go and meet the people that I want to meet.
I hope you will consider me without any prejudices and give me the chance to learn more.
