Counting down the days until my trip to Costa Rica! Hoping to enjoy this time connecting with nature, beautiful souls, and for once learn to slow down... ☺️ I'd love to learn to surf!

  • Description

Hello world, and welcome to my profile! :)

I'm Chiara, a curious, sensitive and at times restless soul.
I find that in my life all the major turning points have been the result of a leap of faith and of following my heart's intuition (you could say that has a lot to do with my sun in Piscis!). Whether it was living Chile for a year when I was 16, moving back to Italy after having lived in the US for 12 years and reconnecting with my roots, or leaving my job in an HR consulting firm to follow my passion for language teaching...these things always followed a period of relative discomfort and of asking myself "is this it? if not, what's my heart telling me is next?".

And that's why I'm here today. After having lived in the lovely city of Padova for the past five years, I'm craving a new perspective. Something I've always envisioned is to live a slower, simpler life, more in contact with nature. One day I'd love to run my own little bed and breakfast in a quiet town here in Italy. From what I've heard, Costa Rica is a very relaxing and peaceful country and I have always been very attracted to that type of culture. I've chosen it as my destination because I wish to experience living in a rural setting, while learning a bit about hospitality and living a more self subsistent lifestyle in harmony with nature.

This is the first time that I travel by myself for an extended period of time, a dream I've always had. Because I think that when you travel alone you can learn a lot about yourself, enjoy moments of introspection, and grow as a person. The last big trip I took was back in 2018, where I traveled with 2 of my good friends from Colombia all the way to Chile in three months. At this time of my life I like to plan a little but also leave a lot of room for improvisation and making spontaneous decisions. With my boyfriend we love traveling by motorcycle and camping. I consider myself someone who can adapt pretty easily. I'm really not interested in expensive, material luxuries.

I really value building real relationships with the fellow humans I encounter in my path and learning from each other, treating others and nature with kindness, appreciating the little things in life and looking for the positive of every situation life offers you.

TEACHING - Teaching English (mainly to adults but also to children) has been my profession for the past 3 and a half years and I would be more than happy to teach you! Before that, during my summers while I was in university (in which I studied international relations), I also had expereinces teaching as a volunteer. I taught English to children from refugee families who had just moved to the United States (they came mostly from countries like Syria, Somalia, Iraq...). I also went to Lima, Perù one summer and volunteered in a shelter for teenage girls facilitating workshops that empowered them to be change-makers and to learn about the Sustainable Development Goals.

EVENT PLANNING AND HR RELATED SKILLS: While in university, I was a member for 3 years of the organization AIESEC, in which we facilitated cross cultural exchanges both for volunteer and professional development. In fact it was with that organization that I went to Peru. Duing those years I also became responsible for the recruitment and training of members at our local chapter in Washington DC and I planned social events to promote our organization and projects. My first job out of university was in the HR field, and there I created employee engagement surveys, planned recruitment events for our client companies, and

RETAIL - other jobs I've had, between the last of high school and throughout university) include working in an ice cream shop, a clothes shop, and a card and stationary shop

What else can I do? I can help you with cooking, gardening, taking care of kids, read your astrological birth chart, and if I don't know something I more than willing to learn!
