We are Cate, Pippo e Luna 🐶
We were two educators and we worked with people with disabilities and fragility. Last year we decided to quit our job and left our home for discovering something...new

We believe that this is a wonderful way to discover and meet people

We like reading, watching movies, listening to music, dancing, playing board games, making new friends, traveling, hiking with Luna, sharing skills...
we try to act responsibly towards the environment we live in ♻️ We try to do our best!
We have dreams and thoughts for ourselves but we also really like to follow the flow and what happens to us along the way.

We travel by camper with our dog Luna. We also have a cat, Pippi, an adorable old cat (she is 13 y.o.) and she is at Cate's parents home🐱
Luna is a 5 year old female dog, she loves to stay free in nature and she is so sweet, sometimes she looks like a bit..."aggressive"...cause she barks when she meet new people. It's only her first reaction, she loves human attention and of course other dogs attention 🐶 she isn't an alpha dog.
She is castrated and she has all the vaccination required for travel in Europe. She is an animal so let's see how it works time by time 🙏

We thought we'd write here some things we have done in the last few months (sometimes like workawayers sometimes not)

🪵 woods, cut and collect, with chainsaw and other stuff
🍆 take care of green gardens and collect the yummy vegetables
🫐 prepare pieces of uncultivated land to plant fruits
🍳cooking! we really enjoy it and also learning and trying new recipes, with particular attention to the vegetarian and gluten free diet (Cate is both vegetarian and allergic to gluten). We love to bake!

Hey volunteers!
We stayed at finca for 7 days. Initially we had planned 15 days with Nathalie and Jana, since they would have left for Belgium we could have easily decided to extend our stay in the project. They anticipated the departure and we communicated that we could have stayed longer, but, after some days, we decided that we couldn't stay… read more beyond a week. Let's clarify that there was also another volunteer, another would have arrived, there were two guests and Casper, who lives on the land with them.

We don't want to share the reasons that led us to this choice, we followed our feelings, our sensations and emotions, but we think it could be important for the other volunteers to have more detail than what is told in the profile, something we also talked about with Nathalie and Jana when we left.

We were placed in caravans without electricity and without gas (there is the possibility of buying gas from them if you want a bit of heating and if you want to cook your own lunch!)
The bathroom is outside the caravan, with a shower and a dry toilet. If we wanted to take a cold shower we could do it whenever we want, after working hours, for the hot shower we had to wait for the evening, when the generator was turned on to operate the washing machine (it remains on for an hour and twenty, usually around dinner time!).

Our working hours was from 9 to 14, so there were 5 hours requests, not 3 as indicated in the profile. 5 hours a day x 5 days, two free for everyone, in which we could decide whether to do things together with them or alone.

Breakfast and dinner were provided by Nathalie and Jana, lunch was not provided. We could prepared our own breakfast in Casper's camper (you can also preparare your own lunch in Casper’s caravan, but there is not much space to store everyone's food so Nathalie and Jana advise to buy food for two or three days at most) . In our turn, at 17 we had to start preparing dinner for everyone, which was served between 18 and 19, we could prepare it in Casper's camper or in their camper if we had to prepare for many people.
The volunteers or guests take care of meals. Volunteers or guests who do not cook, wash the dishes.

During the 5 hours of work, Nathalie and Jana shared their knowledge with us and often we did the work together, other times we worked alone or in groups if they had to do other work.

Every morning we had a meeting with Nathalie and Jana, the other volunteer and guest 10 minutes before 9 in their camper in which they explained the work schedule for the day. We were also in a WhatsApp chat for communicate quickly.

Every day the households had to be done, which consist of: cleaning the floor of Nathalie and Jana's camper, airing the dogs' cushions, dusting, washing their dishes, refiling their water if it's finished, cleaning their bathroom, tidying up their room, putting their dirty clothes in the washing machine, taking the dry ones away and putting them back in their place and consequently tidying up their closets too, filling the dogs' bowls.
The jobs carried out by us and other volunteers were: cleaning the chicken coop and feeding the chickens, cleaning the shower and the dry toilet, cleaning spaces used by the guests, sifting the soil to obtain clay, building walls with clay, straws and stones (cob), dividing the branches pruned from the olive trees, turning over the hot compost, procuring together with them more compost, emptying a hole with biochar, repair some tools.

Our dog Luna was warmly welcomed by everyone. Their dogs are wonderful, all of them, we just recommend being careful if you travel with a dog that is very reactive because they are almost all rescued dogs and some still have fears due to past traumas.

Our advice is to ask more information about the help before you arrive and about the accommodation!

Caterina e Filippo sono stati un grande aiuto e grande compagnia, ci siamo trovati tanto bene.
Un energia bella e calma, tanta voglia di imparare, anche le bimbe si sono affezionate.
Sono stati molto attenti e si prendono gran cura della cagnolina Luna, consigliatissimi. Speriamo di rivedervi presto :)

The place where Maria and her family stay is surrendered by nature and is very peaceful, we absolutely loved how and where they live.
