  • Description

I'm Cassie, I'm 22, and I enjoy meeting new people and immersing myself in other cultures. I love music, food, languages, and animals. I would describe myself as friendly, enthusiastic, and determined, and I love to learn new skills. My hobbies include cooking, climbing, skiing, and reading. I'm very interested in sustainability and trying to live more slowly and intentionally, especially eating good food while respecting the environment. I would really love to learn about permaculture and how to be more self-sufficient with food and other resources. As much as I love to feel part of a community and to have people around me to exchange stories, share good food, and play games with, etc, I am quite introverted and need my own space and time alone to recharge, so I appreciate having a quiet space to go to when I need.

For a little bit of my background, my family is a mixture of British, French, and Irish, and I grew up in the UK. When I was 18 I took a gap year where I worked a ski season in France and travelled around Europe by Interrailing. Since then, I've been living in the Netherlands, where I studied ecology and worked in a hotel. I recently left my life there to focus on improving my French, so I'll be doing a French course in Montpellier from March, and after that I'm planning to do a few longer term Workaways around France to fully immerse myself. I would love to be able to confidently speak to my grandma and cousins in French, and I think I might want to live in France long-term, so I'm aiming to reach a level of French at which that could be possible.

  • More details about your skills

I have 6 years of experience in hospitality/catering jobs, so I'm good with people, can work well in a kitchen, and know how to tidy up after myself. I've done dog sitting/dog walking and babysitting too, which I enjoy. I have never had a job as a gardener, but I do love my houseplants, and would really like to learn about sustainable farming/permaculture. I recently graduated from a bachelors in natural sciences (with a specialisation in ecology), so I have good knowledge of biology and some knowledge of chemistry, physics, and neuroscience and would be happy to share this. I've had a driving license for 4 years. I've also played the piano for many years and played the trombone for two years and love music in general. I'm always up for a challenge and love learning new skills, so I am equally happy to try something new if you're willing to teach me!
