  • Description

    Hello there 👋

My name is Carlos, and nine months ago, I took a leap of faith by resigning from my job to pursue my dream of traveling through Southeast Asia. This journey has been transformative, not only in the places I’ve explored but in the skills and perspectives I’ve gained along the way.

Traveling has always been a passion of mine. My first backpacking trip over a decade ago changed my life, and now, this adventure has taken me to incredible destinations while teaching me the value of adaptability, resilience, and cultural exchange.

During my travels, I’ve had the chance to volunteer in hostels and organic farms, where I’ve learned practical skills like hospitality, gardening, and even basic mixology. I’ve also delved into the world of coffee and kombucha, discovering the fascinating processes behind crafting these beverages and appreciating the artistry and dedication they require.

I thrive on creativity, whether it’s experimenting with new crafts, diving into culinary traditions, or designing solutions to challenges. Every day is an opportunity to learn, and this mindset has kept me engaged and inspired throughout my trip.

As a nature lover, I’ve grown even more connected to the outdoors, especially through activities like surfing and hiking. Staying active has been a constant in my life, offering both physical and mental clarity.

In addition to my travels, I’m passionate about beer brewing. My previous career as a brewer taught me the importance of craftsmanship and attention to detail—skills I now apply to everything I do.

This journey has reaffirmed my love for adventure, learning, and building meaningful connections. Through Workaway, I hope to continue this path by contributing my skills, enthusiasm, and creativity to your project.

I can’t wait to meet you and share unforgettable experiences together!

I would love to learn a new language, I consider that it is something I am not very good at. Stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing the challenge of mastering a new language is something I eagerly anticipate.

  • More details about your skills

One of my key strengths lies in creativity and design. Whether it's devising innovative solutions to challenges or crafting imaginative design proposals (which even formed part of my role as a brewer in creating experimental beer recipes), I have a passion for design in all its forms.

Another skill of mine is working with my hands. I not only enjoy it immensely but also find I can quickly adapt to new tasks and master them in a relatively short amount of time. I have expertise in woodworking and working with resins, and a few years ago I learned to work with paint.

Teaching comes naturally to me—I possess the patience and willingness to explain concepts clearly. Whether in the role of mentor or mentee, I approach learning with an open mind and a positive attitude.

I've cultivated the ability to work efficiently. My organizational skills ensure everything runs smoothly. Whether managing time, coordinating with others, or supervising projects.

While I'm not an expert in social media, I've gained practical experience using these platforms over the years for personal projects and at the brewery. I've learn the basics in photography and video creation, finding it surprisingly enjoyable. Though I'm not a pro, I believe I can offer valuable insights for social media content development. Similarly, I don't consider myself a photographer, but I'm open to trying new ideas and having fun with it!

I must admit, I have limited experience cooking Mexican food and food in general, but I can whip up a Mexican dish every once in a while to share :) This time, I'm eager to expand my culinary horizons and what better way than diving into Asian cuisine!

  • What else ...

At this juncture in my life, I'm drawn to rediscovering my artistic inclinations, particularly in the realm of music, which held a significant place in my teenage years. Thus, a primary motivation for this journey is to reconnect with this aspect of myself and shed any unnecessary baggage along the way.
