  • Description

    Dear Friend,
when it comes to introductions I always think of a newly formed group of students. Everyone tries to put themselves in the best possible light, some fight for the role of the leader some shy away from the center of attention and talk in pairs in a corner of a classroom or even sit alone and observe the others. It's fascinating to watch how friendships are made, cliques are formed, fights are won and lost, but in the end the group in a way becomes one big family. If it works that way with a big, random group of adolescents it can work with anyone. Actually one of my favourite quotes is:
“There isn’t anyone you couldn’t love once you’ve heard their story.”
I strongly believe if we listen to each other and try to understand each other’s story we can create a better world and that’s why I’d like to know locals when I travel and not only see the buildings but understand the people living in them.

So here are some parts of my story:
My name is Bogi and I am from Eger, a wonderful little town in the North-East of Hungary. I am a language teacher by heart and according to my degree, but I had to change jobs because working as a teacher in Hungary is "an expensive hobby".
The past five years I've been working remotely as a software engineer and travelled quite a lot, though I had my home base in Budapest and sometimes in Istanbul, my favorite city for a few months at a time. Now, I've quit my job and I'm ready to travel as a backpacker on a budget till I run out of money or feel like I found a place where I would like to settle for a while.

    - I miss teaching English and I'd love to see how schools/language schools/language learning communities work at different parts of the world, so I'm especially interested in volunteering opportunities related to education.
    - I've recently spent a few days at a farm and I would like to learn more about living in harmony with nature and work at organic farms.
    - I am open to all kinds of jobs, since my favorite part of travelling is experiencing how different people live.

I'm open-minded and curious about the world. In addition to traveling, in my free time I love reading, spending time with friends, hosting on Couchsurfing, going for long walks, swimming, exercising, writing, and painting.

Hi! I'm an English teacher and native Hungarian speaker. I also speak some German and Turkish. I'm interested in improving my German or Turkish and I'm really curious about Kurdish and Hindi, but I'm a complete beginner.

  • More details about your skills

I'm a quick learner and hard-working. I'm an English teacher based on my degree but during covid I had to change jobs, so I learnt some coding and have been working as a software engineer with low-code/no-code platforms for the past five years.
This year I would like to get away from the screens and learn about how different people and communities live. I am good at organizing events and leading groups thanks to my experience as a teacher. I'm great at connecting with people quickly and navigating cultural differences due to my vast experience with Couchsurfing.
I would like to learn about farming and living in harmony with nature.
