Hello my name is Brenden, nice to meet you!
I love nature, community, and a simple happy life!
In the past I’ve spent a year in total working on organic farms(ranging from 5 - 4,000 acres) on Molokai, Hawaii and in southern California where i was lucky to meet wonderful people and learn so much about caring for plants and animals. I’ve also helped on staff with community youth workshops for the nonprofits Seed of Love and Ethnic Studies YOLO. One of my favorite experiences was also spending 2 amazing months working at a lakeside hostel in Guatemala and making great friends I still keep in contact with from across the globe :)
In spare time I enjoy dabbling with music and have worked as a musical co-director for a local youth theatre company and been involved in other bands and projects.

I have lots of experience working on small, organic, farms with both plants and animals. I’ve done lots of planting, weedwacking, digging holes, feeding, and playing with animals too!
In the past few years I spent time working at small art cafes, hosting art and music shows and love meeting people and doing that type of work too!
In addition, my time living in co ops has been really nice for building community and sharing with people. I hope to bring a smile and helping hands wherever I go!

I love quiet times backpacking in nature, gardening, picnicking, and love to relax and get in touch with a quieter way of living. I also spent 4 years in housing co ops and love to play games, sing, dance, and have fun!

Brenden is awesome and we were so lucky to have hosted him! Brenden came and helped on our farm and with our non-profit, for about four months, on the island of Molokai in Hawaii.
He is an incredibly hard working person, and we were delighted to have someone with such a positive demeanor, work ethic, caring personality and musical talent around… read more each and every day. We had originally offered Brenden a one month opportunity but immediately realized
his potential and how impactful his assistance would be for our farm and program, and extended his stay indefinitely.
Brenden lived with us at the farm and we spent nearly every day together and got to know him very well. The scope of his work varied greatly and regardless of what was asked of him, he was able to accomplish in an enthusiastic and timely manner. From feeding and looking after chickens, ducks, goats, sheep, dogs, cats, a
horse, and the numerous foster animals we take in, to preparing garden beds for hundreds of
taro plants and other fruit trees and vegetables, Brenden worked with care and efficiency. I felt comfortable showing Brenden a new task and trusting it in his hands, as he could learn things very quickly, and see it all the way through.
He also was an integral part in our fundraising efforts. Our main value-added product, Taro Hummus, was made weekly to be available at the farmers market each Saturday for donations. Brenden was involved in the entire process, from harvesting the taro, to the all-day production,
and the early morning set up of our booth. He is so well liked in our community, people would stop by just to talk with him and he had excellent customer service and social skills to make everyone feel great about their day. He even took it upon himself to create a new product for us to have available, ginger kombucha, and it was very well received. His self-starting mentality and genuine care for the work he was doing showed each day.
Finally, I want to mention that throughout the four months we had several youth groups come for
workdays on the farm. It showed right away that Brenden worked extremely well with youth and the workdays went excellent because of his ability to engage yet be firm at the same time, and made it much easier for me to focus on the rest of the program’s needs. As good as he was with
youth, he brought the same level of care and respect when helping elders in our community. He also worked extremely well with fellow workers, and gave assistance any time it was needed.
I have no doubt that Brenden will bring the same level of enthusiasm and work ethic to any new opportunities he is given. I give my highest recommendation to invite Brenden (and now along with girlfriend Sophia) to any workaway opportunities.
