Description
We love our five-acre organic homestead and rural hotel in Bolivia... but are incredibly enthusiastic for a six-month trip through South Africa and Europe, assist others, and enjoy! We are a happy, low-maintainence family of four: Melissa and Bill, traveling with our two children Clea (13 years old) and Rio (4 years old). The kids are also great helpers, especially Clea. We are an American family living for the past decade in Bolivia. We look forward to assisting you in your efforts and getting to know each other!

We can both teach English and Spanish; Bill can teach basic German and wants to get his German up to fluent level. Melissa wants to revive her high-school level French and Italian. Clea can teach conversational Spanish and English and loves the chance to learn any new language.

Bill is a published author of numerous books (memoir, sustainability, deep ecology, travel). He is a long-time avid organic gardner with skills for growing veggies, herbs, and flowers as well as landscape design. Bill taught university and masters level for 10 years on international environmental topics, and also taught junior high school for two years. Experience with kids.
Melissa has worked on gender equality issues at the local level in Bolivia and India and internationally with the United Nations over the last 20 years. She is active in community initiatives, specializing in cultural bridge-building and organizing. She has worked in translation (English/Spanish), is a strong writer and detailed editor. She is versatile in helping around the house/farm/garden and with family/kids.

Our family is grounded in our love and respect for nature (hiking/walks) and animals; Bill is interested in Stoic and other philosophy; Bill and Melissa both play tennis; Bill and daughter Clea love basketball; We appreciate tranquility and calm but also love to dance and listen to music (Bill is the excellent salsa dancer; Clea a classic/contemporary and folkloric dancer); Clea loves all reptiles and will catch your local lizards or frogs with great care!
