  • Description

I would say I‘m a calm, thoughtful, open minded, creative and tall kind of person. I try to be funny too… I have a big Family with five siblings and four chickens, who I enjoy spending time with.
We are living in a big old house with a very nice garden in a quite beautiful area (nature wise). There are lots of possibilities to go hiking, biking and climbing on trees.
Mostly I do that and take my Camera, Drone and siblings or friends with me, shoot Videos, and then edit them together with Music I like or sometimes make myself on piano and Keyboard. (It would be very nice if you have a piano). I am very interested in music, film/photography, animation, theatre and art in general.
I also really enjoy spending time in Nature, being connected to earth instead of the internet.

I actually would like to be some kind of art teacher someday, but the regular way to get into that is just not the way for me… Next to that I’m thinking of becoming a piano builder/repairer as I really like to modify my piano in certain ways to get different sounds out of it, or some kind of conservationist. But for now I just try to stay open minded, looking for interesting people and places, mostly working on myself. And workaway was/is the perfect way to do that.

My friend Johann: (we often do Workaway together)
We live very close to each other so I often went to Benjamins home - we are close friends since our childhood. We often go into the woods behind his house and ride our bikes. We also like watching artistic, aesthetic movies and are fascinated by those great stories.
After completing school I went to Ghana for a voluntary service, doing a film workshop at a school. This was a great experience and helped me to comfortably adapt to a different culture, society and living environment. I like to learn about other perspectives on life and perform different customs.
I am also interested in history, especially the middle ages. Not the dates and years, rather the mindset of people and clashes of cultures.

    Benjamin:
I have a good amount of workaway experience from Sweden, Norway, France, Czech Republik and Poland.
And being at home often feels kind of similar, just without the "away".
We're actually gonna host workawayers ourselfes starting this summer.
There are lots of things to do and I mostly figure out what to do and how to do it by myself, but I probably have a rather unusual sense of where help is needed and where not.

I wouldn't say that I have any outstanding skills in some particular area, but as someone who lives in the village with a big old house and garden, I am familiar with the general gardening tasks and things like chopping wood. Especially chopping wood. Our house was originally built as a Sommer house of a rhododendron cultivator, so it's really bad insulated and really hard to heat when its cold (we did that with wood for a few years...)
I worked three months in a botanical garden but most of the time I just turned over the compost and filtered out the soil, which was still a lot of fun, because with that kind of work you can also conzentrate on listening to music or an audiobook.
I also have some driving experience as I have a drivers license.
I've managed to bild a tree platform on a 18 meter tall pine tree just with stuff I found at home. Six people have already been up there together and It is still in good shape after a year. I also have digged a well in our garden so in dry summers we can take Water for the plants and our pool from their. The well is just about four meters deep but because we live neer a small river it is enough.

Also I always have a camera, field-recording microphone and small midi-keyboard with me and I try to shoot diary-like musicvideos of every workaway Host I stay with. I also have a drone and a lot of experience with flying it. You can have a look at some of my Videos at the YouTube Channel that is linked below.

    Johann:
Like Benjamin I don´t have a specific set of skills but I often help my father in the garden and know how to do tasks around the house.
In our local castle, which is to be renovated, I often helped to clean up the massive amounts of dirt and gravel, tear down some walls and ripping off the upper layer of the floor.
I can adapt myself easily to another way of life and social surroundings as I learned in Ghana.
