Hi!
My name is Becky Wandell and I love to meet interesting people, learn new things and laugh my way through any kind of adventure. For 18 years, I was a 4th and 5th grade teacher in the United States. Then, I joined the US Peace Corps and moved to Ecuador where I taught English to students of all grade levels through University. As a passionate educator, I have also started community gardens, after-school clubs and parent groups to connect the community with their children’s learning.

Since Ecuador, I traveled, worked and lived in Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Argentina, spending a considerable amount of time trekking in Patagonia. In 2024, I returned to the United States to hike the Pacific Crest Trail for six months from Mexico to Canada. In 2025, I became a tour guide and commercial bus driver in Alaska, sharing my love for the outdoors with all my guests.

During my travels, I write a travel blog about my adventures and the people I meet. I relish in living new experiences and turning them into a story for my readers to enjoy. Teaching others, guiding tours, helping in a hostel, working on a finca or a farm, and especially integrating into a family or community- how can I help you?

I promise to be super hard working, energetic, and responsible. I’m eager to learn, connect on a human level and jump into a new adventure. I hope to join you soon!

I loved my experience. I liked working in the store but I really loved working in the bakery with the other employees and volunteers. I learned so many recipes for breads, tartas, empanadas and sandwiches and all the food cooked for us was so delicious too. Volunteering at La Montaña Mágica was a very special experience. I stayed over two weeks on this remote forest reserve helping to weed the garden, paint walls, harvest coffee, cook, clean and serve meals to the visitors.
