My next destination:
Canada - from May 2024 until May 2026 View allDescription
My mum is from a farming town in rural England; my dad is from a farming village in rural Bali, Indonesia. I grew up between these two spaces and am currently planning to make a sustainable garden project with my brother in Bali, once my travels have come to an end.
Before settling in Bali and pursuing this project I am looking to do some solo travelling in Canada and want to experience the incredible landscapes it has to offer. I'm also really keen to get involved with all the sports Canada has to offer!
If I can learn from other sustainable organisations along the way then this is a great bonus. I really enjoy exploring (both natural landscapes and concrete jungles), swims in nature, making fires and being physically active.
I love to socialize, joke around and laugh a lot and I get on with children very well. However, I also make sure I find time to be alone - even when I'm with my oldest friends.
My passions include hiking, training Muay Thai, gardening, growing plants, cooking and eating food, sustainability and permaculture. I am also currently studying the Indonesian and Balinese languages.
I have a degree in human geography and international development.
I have been in Canada for nearly three months. I spent an extended period of time helping with renovations on Savary Island Resort, then building stages at music festivals and finally automated greenhouse construction on a farm. It's been amazing!Interests

More details about your skills
Most of my work experience in based around landscaping, gardening and basic carpentry proficiency. The contexts in which I have done this sort of work has varied dramatically; from mowing my neighbours' lawns for pocket money, to working as a Greensman for major movies across the UK, to building sustainable wooden playgrounds for a small permaculture business, and installing tropical plant displays for banks, offices and retail in London. I am a good driver, know my way around a fair few tools and am physically very capable. I am also good at caring for plants and growing food!
From an early age I worked for my mum's catering business and have a high level of experience in this setting. I have spent a lot of time working in restaurants as kitchen staff and front of house. I am comfortable and proficient in both settings.Age

What else ...
I have been living with my Balinese family for the most part of the past two years and slowly learning more and more about the ceremonies and culture. My plan is to live in my family homestead here so I am also partaking in all the activities required of a Balinese household (there are A LOT!) in a traditional Balinese village.
