Description
Howdy partner(s)!
My name is Anna (Anneleen), I am a Belgian currently on exchange at Dalhousie University in Halifax.
Before going back home at the end of January, I would love to spend some time in Canada in a more profound way than just travelling from place to place. Together with two friends of mine, we are looking for a stay where we can help around for a couple weeks (3-4) in January.
My current hobbies are climbing, boxing, hiking and playing the fiddle (and I'm learning the bodhrán). Frankly, I am quite good at developing an interest for anything if you talk passionately about it :). I love cooking and experimenting with food, but I love eating more! I have been vegan for 1.5 years now, but don't expect any potential host to cater for me. This is my choice and I can take care of myself :), and of course I am willing to share whatever knowledge I have about plant-based diets if this is of interest to you.
Currently I am doing - finishing, hopefully - a masters in Global Studies. Being a sociology girl at heart, I would LOVE to discuss anything related to society, social justice or political philosophy with you! Needless to say, projects that involve sustainability, development aid or NGO work are definitely up my lane.
So yeah, that's a lot of information, sorry about that!
Happy to meet everyone and anyone, and have a good talk and walk.

More details about your skills
I believe I am a solid all-rounder. I am good at seeing work and taking initiative to get it done.
Am I a workaholic? Well... yes I guess so, but I am working on making that part of me a bit more healthy :). I think I can honestly say that I am not lazy, so if you have a big construction project going on, I would LOVE to participate in that and learn from you in the process.
In terms of specific work experience, I have spend a lot of time in restaurant kitchens (also as shiftleader and waitress, but kitchen is more fun!). I often help friends out with home renovation projects (breaking the place down, building furniture, painting, garden work etc.). I usually ask for instructions to make sure I don't mess anything up, so I guess I don't have that much knowledge of renovating myself, but it is something I really enjoy doing and would love to learn more about.
Before studying social sciences, I finished a bachelor's degree in Tourism and Leisure Management. In that context, I did an internship in South-Korea with a small sustainable travel company. Although I have switched to a different field now, I still find hospitality an interesting sector, especially if the work concerns sustainability.
If you are looking for a photographer / videographer, I can definitely help you out with that, but I am by no means a professional in that field. Just love doing it :)
