  • Description

Hello! My name's Andrew, and I'm a medical student and writer living in London. I grew up in France and my family are half English and half Italian, so I've always enjoyed moving between different cultures and languages—it's something that comes naturally to me!

Two of my big loves in life are medicine and literature, which I am lucky enough to combine as a career. I also love meeting new people, travelling, being in nature (especially near water), playing sport, listening to and making music (I play the piano), and reading. My favourite sports are swimming and waterpolo, but I also enjoy yoga, tennis, pilates, ping pong, football (though I'm not very good!), and volleyball.

I have lots of younger siblings and cousins (some are only babies) who I love looking after and spending time with. I have lots of experience looking after children and really enjoy helping them discover the world through books, games and activities.

My favourite travel experiences so far have been really varied: climbing volcanoes in Guatemala, watching classical concerts in Mexico, scuba-diving in Belize, walking through the Andes in Peru, exploring old churches in Rome, discovering second-hand bookshops in Paris, teaching students in rural Scotland...

I have also had extensive experience volunteering, including at: homelessness centres, hospices for the terminally ill, and at under-privileged schools.

Nowadays I am particularly keen to meet new people, travel sustainably, discover new forms of living and working communally, developing new skills (DIY, gardening, etc), and share my experience in languages and literature with new people.

  • More details about your skills

I am a native speaker of English, French and Italian, and can also speak good Spanish.

I am trained in first-aid and basic medical care for both children and adults. I will finish my exams to be a fully-qualified doctor in early 2027.

I can cook pretty well (I think!), including food from several different cuisines and for vegetarians/vegans/gluten-free, etc.

I can also help with general maintenance around the house, including washing and ironing clothes, vacuuming and cleaning, etc.

My mum used to do the gardening at our local church and would bring me along sometimes to help. I'm not very gifted at gardening but I do enjoy it and am always happy to help out!

I have worked extensively as a tutor to children and a university lecturer to young adults, so I have a lot of experience in teaching and working with groups of young people. My main subjects are literature and languages, but I can also teach history, philosophy, religion, politics, history of art, and biology.

I am a published writer so would be happy to run writing workshops as well or read and discuss other people's writing.

I'm also a pretty fast learner and am happy to try my hand at almost any new skill!
