Bonjour! Amy and I just completed volunteering at a non-profit hostel in Sept-ǏIes, Canada, the Auberge Les Tangon. This charming, relaxing inn invites all travelers, singles to families.

  • Description

Hi! I’m Terri, a younger baby boomer with a love for learning and living life with an attitude of gratitude. My joy is to meet new people and hear their stories. Everyone has a story. People are fascinating. I like to immerse myself in new experiences. I’m not shy and I love to pick up skills from others. I am a retired nurse. Helping and growing in knowledge is in my genes. I've had a lovely life of meeting people from all over the world. Over the years I have had the opportunity to travel and experience different cultures. My volunteerism has been a cherished activity that I have been in many positions and leadership roles. I'm an organizer, having lead the presentation of a hospital benefit to raise funds for families of patients who were being treated for catastrophic injuries. My daughter, Amy, has participated with me in volunteering, since she was a little girl. Amy and I are best friends. Amy and I have begun a new chapter in each of our lives in which we are free to travel and see the world.
Hi! I'm Amy. Yep, my mom and I are besties. I was born into a medical professional family. Really! I was born on my mom's Labor and Delivery Unit. As I grew up I was exposed to many opportunities to practice compassion and empathy. Volunteerism is in my family's DNA. As a 14 year old teenager, I was certified as a lifeguard and swim instructor, I began teaching students of all ages, 6 mths to adults. I designed a special program to teach neurodivergent students. To this day, I have a student of mine who was 4 years old, on the autism spectrum and quite a challenge. He is a 21 year old young man who still calls me and tells me he loves me. I volunteered with patients with spinal cord injuries and other neurological conditions in the hospital pool. I began volunteering at the hospital when I was 15 years old. To this day, it has been one of the most impactful experiences of my life. Throughout college I continued to teach survival swimming for inexperienced swimmers. I served as an instructor in the National Emergency Services Academy, teaching water rescue and first responder courses.
I began my career as a Circulator for an Oral Surgeon's practice. I was drawn to working with and advocating for young neurodivergent patients.
I continue to volunteer for various organizations. I dedicated years working with young cadets in the Civil Air Patrol's cadet program. My belief in integrity, respect and a strong work ethic was strengthened by first becoming a cadet, participating in search and rescue missions. I was promoted to 1Lt. as a senior member. I taught leadership, communication and integrity. I love to immerse myself in diverse environments.
I'm especially interested in photography, videography and social media in which I like to share how people from different cultures can have so much in common.
As I said, my mom and I are best friends, sharing many common interests. I wouldn't want to share this journey with anyone else!
