I'm Amber Groeneweg, a 23-year-old journalism graduate from the Netherlands, currently based in Amsterdam and about to start backpacking through Central and South America.

I’ve always felt happiest when surrounded by nature, animals, and new people. Last summer I had an amazing Workaway experience at a dog shelter in Greece that confirmed how much I enjoy contributing in this way.

I’m a very open, social, and creative person who loves to connect with different cultures and people. I enjoy working with people, animals, helping with creative projects, and learning new skills along the way.

I'm excited about the opportunity to join Workaway and look forward to the meaningful experiences and connections it will bring. I'm eager to learn, help, and make a positive impact

I recently graduated with a degree in Journalism and have experience in theater and cultural production, which nurtured both my creativity and organizational skills. At the moment I work in marketing for a theater company, where I write, create content, and manage communication.

In addition, I’ve worked in a bar and restaurant, which gave me solid experience in hospitality, teamwork, and staying positive under pressure. Since the age of 18, I’ve also worked in elderly care, where I supported people with daily tasks, organized activities, and helped with cooking and cleaning. This taught me the importance of empathy, flexibility, and collaboration.

I enjoy creating a welcoming environment, whether it’s by socializing, organizing activities, or making sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly.

I also love working with animals. Growing up in the countryside, I was always surrounded by nature and animals, and I also volunteered at a dog shelter in Greece, an experience I truly loved.

I’m flexible, reliable, and eager to learn new skills. I bring positive energy to every project and enjoy being part of a team, while also feeling comfortable taking initiative when needed.

In my free time, I love cooking, writing, and being creative. I’ve just started learning Spanish and I’m excited to practice it while traveling.
